What Is The Best Choice For Home Isp In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have just moved to a new condo and I would like to get (wireless) internet installed in my room (I believe the building has True telephone lines already connected)

Bare in mind that I am useless when it comes to computers (except for playing games on my PS :D )

I don't want to spend too much on it, hopefully around 500-800 baht a month-ish.

What is the best service provider for this price range in BKK? in respect of cost, value for money, speed service, reliability etc. etc.

Also I believe that in order to make my connection wireless I will need to buy a "wireless router". Can I buy this myself and install it myself? If not, is there an extra monthly fee to have it wireless?

Any advice would be most welcome.

:o

By the way I live on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok (If that makes a difference...)

If you have True tlf. lines, why not go for True ADSL aswell..available with a wireless router included in the set-up cost.

Yeah, thats probably the easiest option.

But I have heard that True is pretty unreliable and doesn't offer the speeds that it advertises. Can anyone confirm this?

Nothing through CAT, (all internet services) is reliable. The speed system cannot be consistent. That said, True are as OK as many others.

So CAT is pretty bad then yeah?

What about Buddy, I have seen loads of adverts on the skytrain for it. Any experience with them?

Youcan probably not get Buddy unless your True lines were originally TOT lines, OR your building have signed up seperately with them (I get my Buddy through the internal line). Cheers!

I think I might just go for TRUE. The 512k is 750B/M with free installation and router.

You can go for their wirless package as well which is an additional 250Baht/month and includes a router (borrowed) and free access to all TRUE hot-spots.

Sounds ok to me...

Unless one actually plan to use the True hotspots - I would just buy the wireless router myself - about 2200 Baht. Cheers!
