BANGKOK: -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand have announced that they are to set up a booth at the Royal Parade grounds at Sanam Luang to help tourists during the mourning people for the late king.

The booth will help give information about the mourning period and give advice about travel arrangements and other matters, reports js100.

Tourists who avail themselves of the service will be able to get black ribbons for clothing if they were not able to organize their own suitable attire.

TAT governor Yuthasak Suphasorn speaking to reporters Tuesday also announced plans for a big new year celebration to be held in the area from Sanam Luang all the way to the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall to mark the new year.

There will be a mass alms giving on December 31st with food halls set up to provide meals for the poor. In the evening there are plans for a huge "candlelight vigil" in honor of the departed monarch to welcome in the new year.

Organizations from the private sector are being invited to contribute to the occasion by providing food and other logistical support.
