Truevisions on Thaicom 5 - working or not?

Recommended Posts

Just had a call from a ship we look after, they have installed TrueVisions Decoder and they are only able to get the Free-to-air Thai channels

Any info on whether the international channels are working?

Settings we were given:

LNB Universal Brand   or  LNB HU Brand

- LOW Brand   frequency     09750

- High  Brand  frequency      10600

Cheers, scratching our heads at the moment - anything we have missed?

I may be wrong, but if you can get the free channels then the decoder is working.

You will probably find that the other channels are scrambled, or subscription channels. If there is an ATM like slot in the decoder you may need a descrambler card.

Have you paid for a True subscription?

If yes or no, I would contact True.

Again I may be wrong.

As said True used a card system so what was bought?  Only free channels are available without monthly subscription for a pay service.   There is no need for any frequency knowledge as everything is automatically tuned and channels assigned.

Could be to do with special broadcasting rules for the royal mourning period.
Reports of lots of channels not showing normal programing.

Yes subscription paid for, and we have contacted True several times.

They keep saying its working, but they're missing a bunch of channels on board.  We'll keep trying, thanks for the replies

By missing what do they mean?  Programming on many channels is currently subject conditions as stated in post 4.  Are channels displaying no signal.  Are channels even being tuned in?  You say on boat - antenna is on land?  If not how does it maintain alignment with Thaicom 5/6?

Think ship rather than boat, and state of the art satellite systems and tuners on board.

Most of the international channel selections aren't displaying.  Ship's CTO says he's got the settings and frequencies all correct, and True says the account is active.

As I don't have True system on shore myself, I thought it prudent to check if there was perhaps some blockage or temporary disruption of content here on the forum as a first step.

I'm sure the solution will present itself

Although I am getting them on fiber optic still do not understand why there is any frequency turning if using a True box as that will do it automatically - and believe card decryption using that box is required.  From what you say it seems they are using a standard sat receiver which would have to be programmed with channels and not be able to decode pay channels.

Just a thought.

Have you got the rx setup on other ships or land bases?

Could check if theirs is working.

Thanks carlyai - good idea.  No other M/Y's in just now, but good suggestion for future!

Another thing could be to contact True through your up link and take a video of the pic you are getting while talking to their technical department and trying different things.

This way they can see whats happening and talk you thru some adjustments.
