It's the Pinto Thai with new chefs. The old Talad had gone off over the years, when it was basic and meant for the local Thais it was good but the standards slipped as it became known to the western population. I have not tried the new encarnation yet.

I didn't know that. That's a shame as the food used to be delicious there... and their cocktails were also very more-ish. But as you pointed out, a change in chefs or managers can have a negative impact on the service. Yuppas in Chiswick is still very good though.

I don't think I wrote that ONLY Thais deep-fry bananas. But this is a Thai forum, which is why I wrote that Thais do so.
