CHIANG RAI: -- About 200 artists in Chiang Rai led by national artist Chalermchai Kositpipat took part in creating what was reputed to be the world’s longest painting depicting the life of the late King Bhumibol since his childhood days in Switzerland, his growing up in Thailand, his marriage, his monkhood, his accession to the throne and his lifelong dedication to works for the betterment of the livelihood of the people through various royally-sponsored projects.

The painting also depicts locations in Chiang Rai where the late King had visited and tourist destinations in the northern province.

The painting is 2.5 x 17 metres in its size. It was painted in black and white colours as a tribute to the beloved monarch.

The artists started painting at 10 am on Monday and the work of art was completed at 7 pm. The painting was installed at the multi-purpose lawn in front of an art gallery in Chiang Rai.
