Heavy Traffic During World Irrigation Forum

Featured Replies

" People are advised to avoid using Canal Road, Mahidol Road and Chiang Klan Road from November 5th to the end of the event. "

One week of worse than usual traffic.

Why are people asked to avoid roads which are nowhere near the venue?! Canal Road, OK, but the other two are miles away!

They are the parade route.

The Parade Route?

It's an Irrigation Forum - they need a flotilla on the Ping.

1200 visitors expected?  Given most of them will be likely using public transport of some kind (likely a lot of vans), it would seem to me that this would hardly qualify as more than a slight bump in the traffic issues.  Absent long chains of vehicles in escorted police tours, I doubt if most of us will even notice.

Does this have anything to do with the new road block on Chang Klan yesterday?

It is the type you usually see on longer drives to other provinces

Where they briefly ask the driver a Q or 2

They are set up yesterday right after intersection of Lanna Palace coming from Ratilana Spa direction

I saw it & did not want to test anything

So turned left up Ragang road to avoid it

I have never seen a road block in that area so was surprised

Saw it today unmanned I got a closer look at the sign

It is a drunk driving check point

2,000-10,000 baht fine

Not that I'm a drunk driver by was surprised at the location there

at intersection of Chang Klan / Ragang road

That's the water Chang :)

Traffic was horrible up Suthep Rd., Friday night and all day Saturday.  All the side sois were jammed.  Walking faster than driving/parking?  Happens all the time.

They only market water to get around the advertising laws :whistling:

I think all the "water guys" are staying at the Shangri La and Meridien - blocks around that area.

Another one on LoiKhroh , just before Meridien
