Boycie , I don't doubt your word , but is this going ahead as per normal with all the bangs , whistles and lights , as I have friends who want to drive up from Sattahip and see this , but are a bit dubious after recent events , if you know what I mean.

Given Bangkok new years fireworks are now substituted with candles, I'm sure there are going to be fewer or minimal bangs and whistles at this event.

I'll try and get more details and a link but heard it's full steam ahead, with different live bands every evening and now with extra nights on the 13th and 14th December.

Thanks for posting that Boycie.

I will go again this year - every time I have been to this event, I found it to be quite enjoyable.

Hi, I was given the understanding that this year there would be no fireworks.  It will be a more quiet affair but then, things could change at the last minute. It is very hard to say.

Judy Khoo , I was under the same impression , I am just waiting for Boycie to post a link to it all before I make a decision.

Apologies NE1 still trying to get confirmation. All very confusing. They change the original dates from 25th Nov - 7th Dec to the 2nd-11th Dec and then very recently 2nd-14th Dec.

Now i believe they have changed the itinerary and name to Red Cross Kanchanaburi in honour of King Rama ๙

Hoping someone can translate the above. If i recieve anymore information i will update.

Also taking place on the 11th December 2016 is the rearranged River Kwai Half Marathon, so i would think the most popular hotels/resorts will be filling up fast for that weekend.

Second bill says "sound & light" 2-11 Dec.

Thanks for the heads up about the marathon.

Loy Kratong was very subdued, be suprised if the bridge festival is going ahead as normal.

Thanks Boycie......

It looks like a bit of a " before and after " poster , what was going to happen , to what is going to happen.

Yes, there's also a 25th Nov - 7th Dec 2559 poster too. The plans seem to change daily. Only yesterday, there was a big meeting at the bridge.

Not sure how it's all going to work but there will be 4 different Thai themed topics with the last one being the light and sound show, which will include the steam train and fireworks.

As soon as there is a link in English i will post it here.

Thanks again Boycie.
