Trump wins White House in astonishing victory

An astonishing win?

Yes.

A surprising win?

Yes.

It is now known trump had done nothing about beginning a transition plan before the win. So he didn't expect the win either.

A MANDATE to govern?
No. No. No.

He didn't even win the popular vote.

He has a very clear mandate.

You are just being a sore loser, trying to change the rules of the game after you lost.

He won many more electoral seats and his party is now in control of the house and senate. That is a clear rejection of the Democrat party by the electorate.

Had the rules been for a win of the popular vote, Trump would have changed his game plan accordingly and won that too.

I lost track and interest in the meaning of racism in the US when it began to be used almost exclusively by the left to describe people of differing political views

Its not only 'the left'.

More accurately, the 'establishment' shouts racism/bigot whenever anyone dares to question immigration.

I am not from the USA, so can somebody tell me if in the past there have been street protests after a previous pressy 'won' the vote.....?

I know what you mean, but think that the majority of protesters are doing so to make him think twice about some of his worst ideas, which is probably a good idea - although it could back-fire of course....

The few protesters who have turned aggressive are showing the nasty side of groups when they get together and incite each other .

Not generally. Judging from the signs there are more than a few paid groups mixed in with the body of the protesters.  One particular sign I think is humerous is the "Not My President" inside a circle with a slash through it. A double negative.. 55555

I kinda doubt that a guy who isn't taking that much to the press right now would just hand over a list of cabinet candidates to them for speculation.

He's obviously got to be very careful who he assigns jobs too, considering the number of traitors there have been in his own party.

I'll be pretty surprised if sarah palin gets anything….sounds like another move to rile up emotions.

Wait for the official announcement instead of mouthing off.

Already, in just the 2nd day of being President-Elect, Trump steps away from building that ridiculous wall.  Yup, the same wall which he shoutingly promised his sheeple 2,000 times in the past 17 months.  The wall which was going to be deep underground, and 'twice as tall' as before (30 ft?).  That 'beautiful wall" is now going to be a double fence which will cover a small fraction of the length of his promised giant beautiful wall he shouted to all the gullible gun-toting guppies in his cheering crowds.

Only two days after the election, and Trump's promises are falling like a snake shedding its skin.

None of his broken promises are going to surprise me, because I've already known for many moons that Trump speaks with forked tongue, like his orange-haired predecessor: Custer at the battle of Little Big Horn.

I'm not following you. You were upset he was going to build a wall and now you're upset that he's not going to build a wall?

I'm OK with him not following up on most of the things he claimed he was going to do - But I'll guarantee he does the things that benefit Donald J. Trump the most.

Like Hugh Rodham and Billy Carter before them I'm sure the Trump clan will try to trade on their proximity to power. I hope they don't overstep any lines but I'm not counting on it. I'm sure the press will be much more active in tracking this than when their preferred candidate was in power.

He's going to build that wall - I'll place bets on it. It should have been built decades ago. It's actually one of his easiest election promises. He's built hotels and casinos around the country - construction is his forte. They'll start digging the foundations on January 21. The construction plans will be finalized before that date.

The Chinese built a 5,500 mile wall over 2000 years ago -  now everyone is saying the world's greatest nation can't build a short one?

He's not back pedalling on anything, he's just discussing a cheaper option for exactly what he promised.

And with orange haired predecessor, didn't you mean, soon to be orange dressed competitor?

Crosscheck in action:
Trump victory margin in Michigan:                         13,107
Michigan Crosscheck purge list:                           449,922

Trump victory margin in Arizona:                           85,257
Arizona Crosscheck purge list:                            270,824

Trump victory margin in North Carolina:               177,008
North Carolina Crosscheck purge list:                   589,393

On Tuesday, we saw Crosscheck elect a Republican Senate and as President, Donald Trump.  The electoral putsch was aided by nine other methods of attacking the right to vote of Black, Latino and Asian-American voters, methods detailed in my book and film, including “Caging,” “purging,” blocking legitimate registrations, and wrongly shunting millions to “provisional” ballots that will never be counted.

Trump signaled the use of “Crosscheck” when he claimed the election is “rigged” because “people are voting many, many times.”  His operative Kobach, who also advised Trump on building a wall on the southern border, devised a list of 7.2 million “potential” double voters—1.1 million of which were removed from the voter rolls by Tuesday. The list is loaded overwhelmingly with voters of color and the poor. Here's a sample of the list

I already know the wall won't work, and will be an environmentally destructing, money-trashing ($60 billion for construction and related expenses) boondoggle.  But my point is; he's already back-peddling on his promises.  Some, because he's being told they're ridiculous and/or harmful, .....and other proposals because he's a world-class snake oil salesman who will say whatever the teeming masses want to hear - and then change his tune at the next change of wind direction.  Shall I make a list?

You are blaming Trump for modifying his position based on the expert opinions he looks to for counsel ?

Apparently liberals view a dynamic problem-solver who listens to all angles as a character flaw.

As for the proposed wall being harmful to the environment--seriously? Is this actually a serious concern? How so?

Please remember that there was a Bipartisan immigration bill available that Obama would have signed, but Boehner refused to put it to the vote because he was afraid of upsetting the teabaggers.

What Trump has done has turned an extremist right wing issue into a predominantly mainstream Republican one.

Hey, there never was going to be any wall. Think of it as a metaphor. I remember when Obama promised a public option for Obamacare and then he caved to his own Democratic legislators and backed off it. You should not believe what politicians say but do watch for what they do.. I would have thought you were old enough to know that.

I was never a tea partier or I may take some offense at your expression.  ;-)

however, I am a moderate republican until we can get a new Independent like Paul and I find the topic of immigration important.

Can you offer just a bit further explanation on your last post? I am not connecting the dots.

Thanks

There will be no wall. At least no the way Trump described on his campaign trail. Making it sound like an easy undertaking is just cheap talk, nothing more. Building a hotel, or a Casino is not quite the same thing as a cross state mega project. And no, I do not believe that you actually got the construction schedule details. The elections are over. Trump won. Time to drop the campaign trail talk and get real.

The Great Wall of China did not save the Chinese. May want to look for another example. But then, irrelevant historical references will not get the wall built.

Looks like Trump will take MI too:

Forty-six of the electoral college votes President-elect Donald Trump won on his way to a resounding 306 to 232 electoral college victory over Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton came from three states where his combined margin of victory was only 108,600 votes.

No major media outlet has yet called Michigan for Trump, but a spokesperson for the Michigan Secretary of State’s office told Breitbart News on Thursday “there’s no reason to believe there will be large numbers of votes that will be found subsequent to the current reporting.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/11/11/113000-votes-pa-wi-mi-gave-trump-56-electoral-college-votes/

That should shut these Nattering Nabobs of Negativism's gobs.

Right there in Black & White.

During the campaign, and when referring to the wall, Trump pretty much presented himself as an authority on construction. The same was repeated on this topic and others by his supporters. Which expert opinions did Trump consult before (apparently) deciding there will be no wall?

There is no indication that he "listens to all angles", more like flip flopping ans shooting off the cuff ideas.

It's not about what the building of the Great Wall of China achieved. It's a demonstration of what great nations could build 2000 years ago.

There's no point arguing if it gets built or not. Let's wait and see.

Trump did not speak of the wall as a metaphor, but was rather specific describing it. Certain figures tossed in for good measure as well. Not that I (and many others) believed the wall will be built, the issue is more with how Trump and his statements are perceived.

I was under the impression that the wall was supposed to achieve something, apologies if I got it wrong. China of old did not have to deal with many of today's constraints. Also, the building of the Chinese wall was hardly something which could be achieved within a presidential term (or even two).

You're right.  More right-wingers on the Supreme Court - very likely.  The repercussions will go on for at least a generation.

>>> More back-alley abortions.

>>>  Increased gender bias against LGBQ.

>>>  lifting of bans on assault weapons & armor piercing ammo,

>>>  Continued jailing of Americans for having a bit of pot or growing a hemp plant.

>>>  Maintaining provisions for corporations and super-rich donors to pour billions into buying politicians

>>>  Maintain fossil fuel's massive pollution (by allowing off-shore drilling, and pipelines going everywhere)

>>>  Maintain elitist well-funded school districts as distinct/divorced from dirt-poor districts.

* You don't know anything about the Abortion deal yet.

* The only gender bias I see against LGBQ is when they force their beliefs on people by berating them and name calling them. I do believe in equality for this group and its unfortunate that there may, or may not be a negative impact, but its not Trumps fault or the majority of States either.

*There is no Ban on Assault Weapons or armor piercing ammo right now, on a federal level. AR-15 still everywhere, sold everywhere, armor piercing green tip 5.56 still for sale everywhere, legally. Even after 8 years of Obama. So you are painting a picture that Trump will free up all this, when infact, Obama couldn't even touch it. Thank God.

*Jailing of Americans for breaking the law, and lets be real, a couple joints or a plant or 2 is a wrist-slap misdemeanor anyway.

*Super Rich Donors contribute to both sides and Democrats are just as guilty.

*Fossil Fuel Pollution? Unless you don't like electricity or cars, busses, airplanes, etc, you better deal with it or figure out a way for safe nuclear power. Pipelines going everywhere don't pollute and you would be shocked if you actually had any idea of the amount of pipelines there really are in the world, especially sub-sea.

*No idea where you are getting the School thing from and what trump plans to do to destroy it.

Honestly, really, NONE of this stuff will put americans to work, none of this stuff will lower taxes, none this stuff will bring health care insurance rates down.....

You are doing a good job or spinning all this in your favor, however misinformed it may be and weather intentional or not.
