I'm looking for a good working plugin for Wordpress. The languages I wish it to translate accurately are: Thai, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Italian and Russian.

I tried and returned two WP plugins as they inaccurately translated from English to other languages.

Any ideas, suggestions, experience and website examples I can see?

Thanks,

MFM

Computer based translations? Good luck. Especially with Thai. Many times, proper language translation will require a human touch. WPML - wpml.org

Are you talking about automatic translations of your own content or translations of WP itself? Presumably the former and, as mentioned, they simply dont work very well so forget it.

For simultaneous language versions of Wordpress itself and the ability to write your own content in multiple languages, WPML is OK but expensive. Q-TranslateX doesnt seem to be maintained any more but is the one I tend to use as I know its quirks and it does the job. Polylang I looked at but it wasnt compatible with another plugin I needed, so I didnt bother. So the right one for you will depend a lot on what plugins and themes you want to use with it.

Multi-language is a mess with WP and I have no idea why they didnt just integrate it from the outset.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it's to translate a website. For the time, I've decided to use nothing and just leave it in English.

Again, I appreciate the feedback. Thanks.

There was just an extensive article in the "New York Times Magazine" discussing a quantum leap in the quality of translations done by the "Google Translate" app, all having to do with artificial intelligence.  The claim in the article was that changes over the last several months have been dramatic.  The author of the article did a number of tests with blocks of text and found what he felt was a huge improvement.

I do not know if this applies to all languages yet; Thai for instance.
