Has anyone experience of shipping supplements from Chemist Warehouse in Australia (specifically to Chiang Mai).

The express courier cost (they only use Australia Post which is around 4 days delivery) is $104 for box max 5Kg which is rather expensive but they have exactly what I require so that's not much of an issue.

They have a note on their web site "Thailand exempts articles less than or ECI baht value from customs duty" ... I don't know what this means ... any ideas ?

I have no idea what it means, but using a courier virtually guarantees customs problems. At best heavy fees and at worst, it won't get through at all because they will insist you need an FDA import permit.

See if they will ship by normal air mail without a courier and if they won't, try elsewhere.

To add what Sheryl posted Chemist Warehouse are expensive.  I purchased a tube of sorbeline yesterday  and it was twice the price of the exact same item in Woolworths.  (yes I am in Oz atm)

Aus post is normal mail.

But he said "express courier" ?

Express Post is a service offered by Aus Post, using the word courier is misleading.

Thanks Everyone,

From Chemist Warehouse web site:

Express Courier International is now the preferred shipping provider. Germany and Netherlands orders are unable to be placed as the local customs have not accepted many of our parcels in the past.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Express Courier International: Full express door-to-door service, with online tracking, Delivery times vary between 2-5 working days to most countries*

From Aus Post web site:

As Don Mega pointed out there is some confusion over terminology and as Sheryl mentioned avoid "Courier" for delivery

I will try to find out if they ship "International Standard" and go that way if possible ...

It's gibberish.  What it should probably read is "Imports with a CIF value up to 1000 THB are exempt from duty and VAT".

CIF = cost, insurance and freight

Does that mean the package should be marked "value less than 1000THB"

Or if that's not possible any idea what duty and VAT would be on a package total (CIF) of 6000THB

Also should the package be marked "Vitamins Only" or something else

Thanks for your help

bringing it via post there is a good chance it will arrive unscathed how ever some are inspected and I suspect anything come from  "chemist warehouse" will attract attention.

False labeling and  invoices will most likely be frowned upon and will result in goods seized.

Do you have anyone in Aus that can buy and send ?

I get your point  .... yes maybe a standing order every couple of months with someone I can rely on  ... and should the package be marked Vitamins Only ?
