BANGKOK:-- A security man at Don Muang airport claimed online that he could get people into the police force.

He told one person on Facebook that he knew someone high up in the force who could arrange things. The person wanting the job was skeptical but when they discovered that the policeman mentioned actually existed they went along with the plan.

Some 30,000 baht was paid for "a basket of gifts and a mobile phone" for the Region 1 officer but then all contact ceased.

The victim of the con complained some months later to Don Muang police  and a warrant was issued for the arrest of 28 year old Suphawut Muangchai, a native of Chiang Mai on a charge of fraud.

Yesterday he was arrested outside the airport offices where he worked.

It was discovered that he had also promised three people that he could get them jobs because he had contacts in the top echelons of the airport. Those cases involve sums ranging from 70,000 to 120,000 baht and are under further investigation.

Bail was denied.

He also promised other jobs because he had contacts with the tops echelons at the airport.

"Yeah mate what do you fancy? Pilot with Thai Airways? No problem. Can you drive a car? Then you can fly a plane it's a piece of piss. What? You've played Microsoft Flight Simulator on your nephew's PC? Even better!"

"Air traffic controller's another cushy little number. The skill set they say you need is a load of balls. Got my brother in law in at Swampy and his skill set involved playing " Whack-A-Mole" at Dreamworld and directing cars in the car park at the local Temple Fair. He drinks a fair bit but reckons it sharpens his instincts same as when he drives his Isuzu D- Max pick up."

He must have known this was coming. How naive can one be even when dealing with the BIB. They do eventually get their man.

Don't see anything different in this then the 10-15 police officers that have made Dongtan Beach their target the last 2 weeks. They seize the goods from the vendors and they can pick it up end of day for ฿500. Or pay ฿2000 so they can sell seafood from their meny cooked at the SOI next to olala restaurant. The same 2 police guys have been sitting outside the bathroom now for 2 weeks on cellphone and smoking looking out. The others have moved around on their moped on the road in the back.

Never seen this si intencec previous years.
