more banned web sites now in CM

Featured Replies

Just turned to a USA newspaper web site, Chicago Tribune.  Banned by Thai govt for ???, what they say is 'inappropriate content'.

This Internet regulation of course is directly out of China game plan of controlling ALL internet, monitoring citizens email and web posts.

Downhill from here, no doubt.  Bye-bye to freedom of expression, bye-bye to new ideas.

ChicagoTribune.com is opening for me no problem on 3BB.

I just pulled up the Chicago Tribune, no problem.  What is the OP talking about?

CT pulls up for me ok on ToT.

I do see an article that could be deemed "inappropriate" so it's possible some ISPs are blocking.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

daily mail? ladbrokes? ?

every cloud...

Banned for me in Phuket.  Strangely enough, even some pop up ads from other sites are banned............

Click on one of the sub pages after a google search of the paper's name. This always works for me and lets me roam around as though I came in through the front door.

Just use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and tell it you are in the country that you want to watch/read the content from. If you want to read the Daily Mail (I suppose some people do) just tell the VPN you are in the UK.

He's trying to be coy.  Surely, he can't be talking about a specific article about a topic which he knows is off limits in Thailand.  I mean surely, any foreigner who's been in Thailand even for a brief period of time knows this.  Regardless, his thread title and OP is wrong.  The Chicago Tribune is not banned by the Thai government.

I got this.  Accessing from Chiang Mai Via AIS

Sorry !!!

The website you are accessing has been blocked

Because it contain prohibit content by court order.

Only works until you navigate to front page or opinion page - then get the same message.

No, this did not work for me using the Hola VPN.  Still get same message.

Interesting - I am also on AIS Fibre and cannot access it.

same website ?  chicagotribune.com

clicked on various bits and back to homepage - no problem

I get the access denied message when connecting through AIS 4G, but not when connecting through my normal ISP.

Seems that their method of blocking varies from ISP to ISP.  I tried this too.  I can read all the sports but going back to front page gets me the banned message.

"Illinois loses more residents in 2016 than any other state".....looks like the thug style political machine mis-fired.  Sinet....works fine.

Daily Mail, Ladbrokes, Chicago Tribune all accessible with Sinet Fibre.

Chicago Tribune OK on 3BB.  Daily Mail not for a long while.  But OK via True on mobile.  Ladbrokes not available

Make sure you have told Hola which country you want and do not use old favourites/links etc that you have used pre VPN

I have no problems with Cyberghost ( both paid and free versions on IE, Bing & Chrome) Tunnel Bear(IE, Bing & Chrome) and Hotspot Shield(Win 10 mob).

PS;  DM has been barred for a number of years and betting sites also.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/

(still) opens for me on ToT fibre.

Many websites, even foreign cable TV channels are blocked for the slightest unwanted details/comment on the highest members of Thai society.

And Chicago Tribune has such an article currently.

The thread shows that this blocking is inconsistent.

Now you know why they work on the infamous "single internet gateway" :whistling:

The blocking of Daily Mail seems to have a new method that I never experienced.

When I click a link to it on a Google search page NOTHING visible happens.

Just a short blink on the browser headline.

That's it.

Retry with VPN, same method, opens fine.
