Hi,

I need urgently cash, and the only possibilty I have now, it to pay at some place with my American Express (Amex) Credit Card (issued in Germany) somewhere and they give me Cash instead. Last time I did that, it was in Thailand on an Island, 3 years ago, in the Reception of a Resort. I don't know if the same is possible here in Bangkok, and with a American Express card. (Not everyone accepts amex, not like visa/mastercard).

So please, if you have few hints, or places in Bangkok (Best near Thong Lo/Siam - if not I can go far) Please help and post an answer here. It would be REALLY really helpful for my case.

PS: With this amex card, I cannot get cash at ATMs, I have no pin for it. So I'm using it mostly online and for payments here at few restaurants/shops.

If you're legitimate go to a bank and draw cash on it.

Go to a gold shop and buy some gold.  Take it to the next door gold shop and sell it for cash.

Isn't it so easy to get scammed in gold? I have no idea about gold..  And at this shops, is it possible to pay with an American Express Credit Card?

what do you mean with legitimate? And I don't have any money to put it on it. I just want to use the money that I have on the card, till I get paid in Germany in 2-3days... Till then I would like to use my American Express to get some cash today :-/ 

you should be able to get a cash advance over the counter at just about any bank ,if you have available credit .

No, not from a gold shop, Thai gold is a huge and reputable industry here, that's why Thais buy so much of it.  When they're short of cash they'll sell it back to the gold shops or pawn it. 

 

Have a look on the windows of every gold shop, you'll see 2 prices, one is the selling price, the lower one is the buying price that you'll get.

 

I see no reason for them not to accept Amex, you'll have to try some shops for yourself.

 

There are hundreds of gold shops in Bangkok or go to Chinatown (Yaowarat Road) for a huge selection of gold shops.

You have a valid passport that matches the name on the credit card.

The signature on the card matches your signature given at the bank counter.

Very basic.

I mean legitimate in the sense that an Amex card holder would surely be aware that cash advances are available over the counter at banks if your credit limit allows for it.

Legitimate, that it is your card not one you found somewhere.

If you get a card you get an instruction how you can use it, like cash advances in a bank.
