Car (and/or driver license) address change required after moving?

Featured Replies

I used to live in Chiang Mai, and I bought my car there as well, so it has Chiang Mai license plates on it.  In addition, my driver's license reflects the same address in Chiang Mai.  However, I have subsequently moved to Chonburi province (Pattaya area), and have already paid my annual motor vehicle tax once at the local Land Transportation office without any problem, but I've never formally changed my address of record on the vehicle blue book, or my driver's license.  Is this something I should do, and any advice for how to go about it?

During my last annual visa renewal, I supplied the Immigration people with a copy of my lease in Pattaya, so they know my current address.  However, I'm hearing some noise from friends that a delay in reporting an address change for motor vehicle or driver license purposes can result in financial penalties.  Anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

Many thanks for any input.

Change your car book address but no need to change plates unless you want to.

Kept copy of car book address with your Thai DL and you can change address on DL when you renew.

All can be sorted at your nearest DLT office.
