Is it true there's no fireworks in Pattaya on NYE as a mark of respect for the king?

 

 

Fireworks are out and candles are in. It's a nationwide thing.

Ah right. I imagine the sky will be full of those floating paper lanterns on NYE then. That'll be a spectacle

For the firemen, yes. 

There'll still be shaving foam and silly string.

 

Plus would be nice not having to watch your back all night.

New Year celebrations will be very muted.

No fireworks and i think you will find many of the bars that play music have still got the volume turned down (not such a bad thing in many ways ).

 

On the other hand, there is still the football to watch - if you are into that.

There were plenty of fireworks let off in Jomtien on Xmas eve so I'm sure there will be loads more on New Year's Eve!
