Trusting farang robbed after leaving his money in the wardrobe

My condolences to the couple who had their privacy and home space violated.

However, there is a great lesson to be learned here.

The reality is that in the grand scheme of things, 12,000 baht is chump change.

They will easily survive the rip-off and make appropriate adjustments to their personal security.

It sucks that it happened, but they will be fine.

I had to laugh at a couple of the comments.

No, people, the wife was not a part of this rip-off and invasion of privacy.

I suspect it was some local punks who targeted the farang.

They were probably jealous of him and thought they could "get paid".

Now now, this thread has already been hijacked by the faux fashion police and not the legal wannabe brigade. Go hijack your own.

No one's stopping you wearing cargo pants.

Go go for it...

Personally speaking 12 000 is a small price to pay for not doing so...

Clothes horses for courses and all that.

That is true and most of it is workplace / locker room banter.

There is also a lot of experience on TVF.

I noticed you didn't specify what kind of experience. Burned & bitter through their own misadventures. Now wallowing in cynicism and smug superiority to the people they have chosen to live among. Lacking the balls to get the fk out.

experience is one thing. What you take from is it a completely different animal.

This thread is a classic.

You get posters moaning and ranting when they don't get correct change at a shop which can amount to 5 Bhat, yet a man gets over 10k stolen, and half the posters here act as thou the man shouldn't be whinging.

AHHH Thaivisa, the hypocrisy is just too funny sometimes.

....blame the victim.....???

...he stashed a little cash...in his own home....

...only he and his 'wife' knew....

***

...on another note......'A sign of things to come'...???

...only he and his 'wife' knew....

...and 'the thieves' only went straight to the stash...???

...strange...

Aw c'mon, I'm as poor as a church mouse, but 12,000 bt is bugger all, hardly worth reporting. Hardly the crime of the century. If you leave money hanging around the house it will disappear. A Thai girl will go through your pockets as a matter of course, believe me Sherlock Homes has nothing on these girls. My girl can tell if I've been out or not just by the position of my shoes in the hallway. To be fair, it might be a bit of a shock to a newbie. You always know if was your girl or not because because she will be pissed off angry, if someone stole money that she thinks should be hers.

Front or back?

I'll never bad mouth front worn fanny packs after one saved my family jewels from a soi dog that latched on to my fanny pack and wouldn't let go.

I'd be singing in the soprano section of the church choir had I not been wearing that fashion no-no.

Suspect No 1 doing the pointing.

Would not be surprised if her brother shows up on a new motorcycle. Funny that they should mention the fact that they had known each other for a few years.

The culprit knew exactly where to look, given that the wardrobe is still neat and tidy.

Hiding the loot in a pair of undies complete with brown skid mark probably wouldn't have helped  either.

Oh man that is just BAD ASS.

Were you repainting the the garden fence in your skiddies and accidentally sat in a splashback or did you not wipe properly?

Not sure I understand all the accusations that it was the girl pointing in the OP making her guilty of the theft. According to the OP she was with her husband when the theft took place.

Yes call us lot cynical, but maybe the wife was in on it. Taking farang husband to the shop while the accomplice snuck in and stole the loot. They have known each other for years but just moved in a month ago...

I suspect the farang hides his money in this fashion back in farangland as well...

It's a habit developed to handle hot money.

12,000 baht =  "hot money"?  Why not just keep you're hot money in your hot pocket in you're hot trousers.

Yep, you're probably right. Can't see the reason why she would want to smash the golden egg after just moving in though following your reasoning.

My wife does this every time we go to the shops as well, but we've been an item for 18 years now........................;)

That's Wilaiwan in our photo pointing at where their 12,000 baht used to be.

And she updated her farcebook page that they could get in now.

Her real husband, or brother?
