Question About True Adsl Smtp Setting

Featured Replies

I have been trying for days now to find out why I can't send mail (with Outlook 2003) using classic.asianet.co.th as my SMTP.

I've not gotten any answers from True, just re-install the modem! (everything else is working fine)

I HAVE to use the company email address and not my asianet address.

Does anybody know a way I can send email using my non-asianet address with outlook?

Is a setting I've missed or something? I never had a problem with sending mail with loxinfo.

Cheers

Ian

I don't use outlook so can't be sure but would think the problem was probably there. In OE you set up account details for each email and it selects the circuit to send out on on that basis (the email address you use as from). So if you just changed your company account to use the asianet server and did not set up your new email address that might be the problem.

One other thing I found out is that you only use the name part of your email address in the account name/password entries rather than the whole email address. But if you are sending ok with company name you must have that right. If Outlook seems set up ok are there any firewalls that might need tweak? Anti virus programs can also cause troubles when they 'relay' traffic with some spam filters but again, if it works for company I would make sure you have your Asianet email address set up completely first. Sorry can't be of more help.

If you want use your company address, you should be using the company mail server as the pop and smtp server.

If you are using classic.asianet.co.th as the smtp the company server will think an "ousider" is trying to use it as a relay.

You may have to utilise an "authentication" utility that allows you to use the company server by providing your uid & pwd for your email account on the company server.

I have e x a c t l y the same problem.

Now, here's the person responsible for Internet with Telecom Asia, now: TRUE:

Dario - have you had any luck trying to get them to allow company mail servers?

I'm sure a few businesses must have had the same problem!

At the moment I am connecting with true to get my mail and having to send it via 56k dial up - which makes a mokery of my 1024/52 service I currently have!

Insane!

I haven't tried that yet, what would be the advantage? The first day after I complained not being able to send e-mails I was able to for just one day, and ever since I can't.

There's another thing I'm not able to do: check my usage time! There's a website www.asianet.co.th which should allow any user to check his/her usage time. Whenever I log in it says: no user.

Today is a public holiday, so I won't disturb anyone. But tomorrow I will call Khun Apichart and complain. If this doesn't help we can address ourselves directly to the GM of Telecomasia of whom I have his direct phone number.

Strange, I have no problem here. I tested using Outlook express, setup smtp/pop3 as classic.asianet.co.th, setup a bogus user/pass, set my e-mail as [email protected]. Then I sent a test message to my hotmail account. No errors whatsoever. It was sent successfully to my hotmail account (but landed in the junk e-mail folder... what irony).

Using windows XP, with the built-in firewall, 512k TA (inter) connection. What exactly is the ADSL package you're using? Any type of proxy?

There are ISPs that block "from" addresses that aren't theirs, but that's not common since they already block by IP address.

The usage time page is down pretty often, and inaccurate just as often. Don't rely on it. BTW, you can access it directly...

http://203.144.252.11/TimeMeter/UsageTime....login=yourlogin

Replace yourlogin with your user name (without the @truewhatever).

Have not had problem with the usage time page as long as remember to just use my user name and not email address and select 'adsl and cable' for type of circuit. Also have been running below time logger on computer and it seems to be very complete and reliable:

Magistone

What is the error message you receive?

SMTP for TA: mail.asianet.co.th

PS: I also tested with your smtp no problemo :o

I use Outlook - and the Test email setup never successfully sends on my asianet account...

However, I can send and receive emails with Outlook, so I think it's a problem with the test. (using the classic.asianet.co.th servers).

How long have you had your True connection. - I know my email didn't work initially.

Try sending and receiving from the web mail on www.asianet.co.th... - Once that's working OK, you know your account exists, and then it's worth trying the smtp and pop setup again.

Correct. classic.asianet.co.th will not accept mail with "test" as the subject line. I get an error message telling me to change it using OE6 if I try to send a message with that subject line.

Here is an update about the SMPTP setting.

The problem is was having was that whilst I could recieve mails (using the company POP mail server) but I could not SEND any mail. I tried classic.asianet.co.uk & mail.asianet.co.uk. I also fiddled with the advanced options and typed my True username & password into Outlook (send options)

With the recent changes they made in July I thought I'd try it again. Lo & behold it worked first time now! I used mail.asianet.co.th NOT classic.asianet.co.th

Dario - if you still have the same problem take note
