Well, without divulging my identity to anyone who could know me, I decided to write about my trip to Burriram province. We spent six hours on a mini bus and arrived around 4 in the afternoon, got taken to eat some delicious food and then dropped off at a guest house/resort that had just been finished. If you held a gun to my head I couldn't describe where it was, all I could work out is that I think it is used for sexual assignations (is that common?). the bed had a mattress protector of about 3mm plastic, the mirror on the wall was at bed height (amused my daughters greatly that), it was totally tiled from ceiling to floor and over the floor (easily hosable I imagine), no drawers or wardrobe and three free condoms. Taht was all, the shower was warm so that was welcome and it was so far out in the sticks that my little girls saw stars for only the third time in their lives. The people were very friendly and smily and we saw umpteen buffalo.

I could easily see the attraction of living the simple life - and no I am not being patronising. The daughters loved it and if we weren't leaving Thailand in the next year or so I would consider a fortnight's holiday.

You are all lucky people

:o Something like that. It should have been called totally hosedownable :D

Ah, the muddy water clears!

In Isaan, "bungalow" along with "love inn" are the code words for short-stay hotels with primarily..ahem..one purpose in mind. If you've traveled in Japan, it's the same as the "love hotels" which exist for primarily the same purpose. Rent by the hour or overnight--whatever pleases your fancy.

Since your little girls were along, you were probably lucky they were spared a scene (hookers flitting from car to bungalow, lovers' quarrels, etc.) Glad it met your needs, nevertheless! :D
