Free to air terrestrial digital TV in Thailand, anyone use it?

Obviously there are many satellite providers that offer a bazillion channels. I want to ignore those for the moment.

According to Wikipedia there are around 20 digital stations in Thailand. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm particularly interested in people who have used the services in rural areas. I don't know how good the signals are outside of the major cities and whether an indoor digital antenna is sufficient or if rooftop version might be necessary get the signals.

International (mostly US) movies with dual soundtrack on channel 29, and some great Natural History documentaries on Channels 18, 22, & 26, also with English soundtrack.  Enough to keep me from having to watch the Thai soaps.....

Suspect it will depend on the specific rural area - but know that I can not receive any stations here in Bangkok suburb of Latphao using DTV phone/extended antenna - but at Bangkok Hospital location seems to work well.   So I suspect you will indeed need at least an external antenna.

If you have been here for a while you will notice the repeats on 29.Apparently they have just secured the rights to a lot more.

Family use one in rural Issan. Big black dish on the roof with a PIV or PSV box. Sometimes get English Premier League football with Thai commentary but all programmes are Thai.

Not if you click on the audio button and change soundtracks.This is PSI.

@alant  there are no iptv services with digital terrestrial TV

iptv = internet protocol television

Thank you @johng we get theThai ones we want via I like HD but it freezes frequently  on some days and I was looking for another supplier. I know these are available if you have a ToT box but I don't know any more.

Agreed - although during the 30 days of mourning there were some excellent drama "family movies" (with the added benefit of no adverts) which made a really nice change from all the crappy action "premium movies".  My biggest complaint is that I've not managed to find out what going to be on so I can't plan what to watch, and often miss the first 20-30 minutes of anything I end up watching.   Tbh, I prefer the documentaries, although these also repeat (and again am unable to plan anything).

for iptv..

i use ilikehd

works very nicely however i suggest getting a higher end android / iptv box..

i got a cheaper model.. so it stutters during load up and updates.. but otherwise runs well once program is chosen..
