Even when my wife orders the food more than half of the times something goes wrong with our order. Even when i ask something in Thai (like for a knife or so) they reply to my wife and i'm invisible for them. They also don't know the difference between a butterknife or a steakknife.  They like to stand in the way, make a lot of noise with collecting plates/dishes, can't speak english of course, put my food at the other end of the table, don't make sure i have all condiments like pepper/salt/sauces..and so on...That's what i call dumb waiters, totally untrained and have never been to a real restaurant themselves.

A little OTT don't you think? I've eaten at numerous restaurants, both alone and in Thai company, and have only once or twice encountered the issues you write about.

Most of them may be untrained, but they really aren't as incompetent as you make them out to be.

You don't live in BKK matey....they hire the cheapest waiters they can find...totally uneducated it seems.

Last week i ordered 3 mini whoppers takeaway at burger king...after repeating my order 6 times i gave up and left the place. Even the chef didn't understand me.

This guy worked on street in 2012 with his wife.....How  does he do to work on the street and now serve clients in a restaurant.

See video

Maybe they made enough money to buy a restaurant where  he can now be seen serving customers

It would make sense, wouldn't it ?

As a matter of fact, I DO live in BKK.

If nobody understands you, then maybe the problem isn't the people you're talking to... go figure matey.

Always remain calm, speak slowly and generally things go smoothly.

I hope you have better luck next time getting the food you order. Bon appetit!

off topic abit , but does any know what happend to the last bloke ?  the pilot ,without legs.  is he still around?

My intel told me the junta government is planning a crackdown on legless farangs (a) and also planning to make thailand the HUB of protheses surgery in the universe (b) and TAT will promote thailand as most-handicapped-friendly country in SEAsia (c). A team of specialists is on the case and will visit hawaii soon for an indepth team building mission integrating all three points above into THAILAND 4.0.

Last time I was in the UK I went into a coffee shop and they had a Thai waitress working there, but I didn't feel the need to film her.

Are you sure she was working.

It is very rare to see them work.

Might have been Cambodian.

I am guessing you get treated like this when you return to a restaurant for a 3rd / 4th time! ? I have lived in Thailand  8 years, for the last 6 I would say I eat out 5 times a week, and I am not always the easiest person to get along with - I am NEVER treated like this in a restaurant. Might be a case of the chicken and egg - do you have a disdainful attitude towards them because they treat you badly, do they treat you badly cause of your attitude towards them.

Before you get all huffy and shitty with me - lets see how many people on here comment and defend you and say they get the same treatment in restaurants. If a number do - then your opinion seems justified, but I just don't see that happening. I don't have a Thai wife to help me order, I try what very little Thai I have and I get by just fine.

You understand the concept of tipping don't you? Especially in VERY Thai places and VERY small TIP makes them pretty bloody happy and they do remember next time.

That my experience any way.

It's funny how the Thai society - in general - gets all worked up over everything and anything with a caucasian in it.

From my experience the thais actually think it is impressive that a farrang want to do their low skilled jobs...
