BANGKOK: -- Operators of the Purple Line sky train have announced a reduction in fares for weekends and public holidays.

All adult tickets for any length of journey will be just 15 baht on Saturdays and Sundays and all public holidays, reported Thairath.

The line runs between Tao Poon and Bang Yai.

The offer will stay in place until the link up extension from Tao Poon to Bang Seu is completed. That is hoped to be sometime in the next year.

Fares for students will be 14 baht and OAPs and children will pay just eight baht for their journeys.

The discounted tickets can still be used for the free bus service that is in place to connect to the station at Bang Seu for continuing journeys into central Bangkok.

Sky train chief Peerayuth Singhpatanakun said that the lower fares will hopefully promote passenger use on the line.

The new fares take effect from March 4th.

Why not send all the 3500 policemen from the temple to help building the missing link? What a disgrace the line is still not connected to the rest, even after using article 44 to speed it up.

That bus is really crappy and for midgets. The sidewalks to the stations are very bad and even dropping somebody by car at the station is almost impossible cause many folks park their car right infront of the stations and take the train from there. Why would they park in the parkinggarages if the police do absolutely nothing as usual.

Also i don't understand why this line had to be built so high with such huge stations. You need sneakers if you use it, no flipflops.

I thought that the linkup was going to be completed in september or something like that.. no it takes an other year ?

Still on the cards for around August Rob, but you know where we are ...

Good point.

Was   abandoned  before. Now it is  happening. What  complaint  as to time  frame or need  for.............flip flops???
