As part of my Thai Wife's application for a UK Visitor Visa she will be submitting Chanotes to show proof of land ownership. Does anyone have any experience of whether she would she be able to submit photocopies or will the Entry Clearance Officer  only accept the originals?

JamesH, she will be submitting land title papers. They will not necessary be 'Chanote' title. I took my missus to the UK. No requirement to show land papers. Unless they've changed the requirements?

My wife used un-translated copies 3 times for 3 successful applications.  If or not the ECO paid any attention to them at all is not known.  It is not a requirement to submit them so doing so is just the applicants idea of something that might be useful.

Whichever you send if you are relying on it as part of her reason to return you will need to supply an English translation. I would send the original with a copy too. What else are you relying on to show her reason to return?

I was planning to show her reasons for returning as "We have a very settled life in Thailand, which I now consider my home. I have no ties in England apart from my son and daughter and have no wish to return to the UK permanently. Tharida has strong family ties and owns approximately 63 Rai of land and together with our house, farm vehicles and Isuzu pickup I believe these to be good reasons for her to return to Thailand at the end of our visit. We may want to visit the UK again in the future and therefore she would certainly comply with the visa conditions in order not to jeopardize any future applications" Any suggestions on how to improve on this would be appreciated.

You really don't need to worry so much.  You live here, she lives here, just demonstrate that.  An Isuzu pickup is no reason to cross a street let alone return to a country.  The UK is not some evil land denying entry to the occasional tourist, it really is no big deal.

If you can show you live together in Thailand there is unlikely to be any issues. My then girlfriend got a visa with nothing other than the fact we are a couple and live in Thailand.
