In London today a  high court ruling concerning the minimium income to support a Non UK spouse wanting to settle in uk.  I moved back to uK last august after 19 years in the land of smiles. We are well settled in now and my 10 yr old son enjoying a Good english Primary school. It was hard getting back into the sytem, with tax, support, doctors and all. But after 5 months all done.

My Thai wife just obtained her uk settlement visa.

The topic title is relevent as we had to sell land, house, car , everything we had in Thailand to  meet the Financial requirments. For us that was my Pensions, + 1.2 Million baht.

So  it could be good news today for others who are thinking of returning to uk

I am glad we did it, i was going bust with the monthley decline of sterling. With child tax (I never could get in thailand) my state pension gone up £300 per month (no increase in Thailand) other benifits. no bank transfer charges, No school fees to pay (our son was in a private schoo in thailand)

The bottom line we have doubled our income, better qaulity of life, great apartment, free bus, free school dinners, free hospitals. we can add to our income if we want with part time work.

Best of luck, watch that court rulling, it really could make getting back with your spouse a lot easier than we have  (and many more) have just gone through

all the best

Unanimous victory for the government which is very disappointing. Whether the criticisms levelled by the Court will result in changes is probably doubtful seeing as Teresa May is now PM and it was she who introduced the policy.
