KRABI: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered the environment impact assessment EIA) and the environmental health impact assessment (EHIA) studies which were previously conducted on the coal-fired power plant in Krabi province be scrapped.

 

Government spokesman Lt-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Monday that the prime minister had instructed the Office of Natural Resources and Environment Policy and Planning of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to inform the Energy Ministry that the prime minister wanted the EIA and EHIA studies which were earlier commissioned by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to be scrapped because he was concerned with the process of public participation which must be transparent.

 

The government has attached great importance to transparent public participation process, he added.
