ThaiRath reported that police arrested a gay pickpocket who had stolen a wallet from a Norwegian tourist on Jomtien Beach yesterday.

A Pattaya police patrol was out trying to find lady boy thieves and other miscreants when they spotted a Thai man looking suspicious and searched him.

He was found to be in possession of a wallet containing almost 6,000 baht belonging to Perens Kisted, 41, who was nearby. The tourist had not even realized he had been the victim of theft.

That is Perens  in the police station doing a "slam dunk point" on the head of career thief Bunchuay Srikaewboriboon, 29.

Bunchuay, from Korat, claimed that his life was tough and he had only turned to theft to support his younger brother and his wife.

Police soon discovered this was nonsense as Bunchuay had a string of offences for pickpocketing and theft at the resort as well as drugs offences for which he had served time.

Nice pointing pose.

Can't believe the guy in the photo is 41. Must have had a long paper round.

Not saying that's the case here, but this is one of those times you definitely don't want to be on a fake passport.   Random occurrence that could derail even the best laid (albeit nefarious) retirement planning.

So the gays now muscling in on the lady boys turf of pickpocketing huh?

as if we don't have enough of the latter, now the former are getting into

the action, what a fun place Pattaya has become, can't see the sea

from all those criminals, gangsters and crooks there....

Though I'm sure this kind of thing has been going on forever, and not just in Pattaya, I can't help but wonder if any increase in the frequency is an unintended consequence of getting rid of beach chairs, street vendors, and many of the other ways these guys fed their families (and their habits) in the past.

Edit:  Has a little bit of the butterfly effect, too.  Ban street vendors in BKK, and the street crime in Pattaya increases.  Because the guys who can no longer make a living in BKK have to do something...

I just love the use of adjectives in this title...

"Gay pickpocket rounded up preying on tourists at Jomtien Beach"...

Why does the fact that the pickpocket is gay have to be reported? Is the editor at a loss for words or ideas???

clickbait...

Mr Perens Kisted, 41, also had his credit cards stolen--but didn't report it as the thief was spending less that his wife.....:coffee1:

Except Mr. Kisted probably doesn't have a wife if a gay pickpocket can get his wallet without him knowing -

"I thought the thief was just checkin' out my package."

Another case where the victim should have a crime reduction option available to him or her:

Pay 1000 Baht x 5 minutes x how many minutes preferred while the low life Perpetrator is held in a jail cell and you get to have minimum 5 glorious and satisfying minutes with the Perpetrator.

If you want or need a Baseball bat then that is available for another 500 baht.

Another option: The Perpetrator is stripped naked and paraded around in Public at the end of a rope noose and a large sign around their neck explaining their perpetrated crime and walked around in public for 2 days minimum.

Before some of you respond, think about it,  as the present system is not working as planned

More likely pay another 50 baht and get a condom.

Like Don Henley's recalling his wife's title to one of the Eagles songs - supposedly she called it "The Credit Card Song" - he called it "Take It To The Limit"!

LOts of things going on in Jomtien. Ladyboys between  the market and soi 9 waiting to rob you. One   tried to " touch" my thin  silver  chain. Girls and boys on the thin pavements soliciting near soi 5 and on the prom. The market is kept quite clean but the roadsides and pavement are filthy, full of trash. Overflowing bins from the beaches stink to high heaven.Second road pavements are death traps with holes everywhere and again full of trash, wastelands full of abandoned rubbish bags.

At night, bike gangs, pick ups ,park  and party playing music blasting out and spoiling the trade of the restaurants opposite. Speeding cars, no policing. And this is supposed to be the " nice"side of Pattaya.
