Papa if you want to go all off-road, Honda also sells the CRF250R (275,000 THB) and Kawasaki has the KX250F (335,000 THB) available in Thailand.

For Thai off-road riding I would recommend a 250cc, as I had once a 450cc Honda CRF450X and it was too powerful and often was with my axle in the mud… especially when it’s a bit wet.

The 2016 MX2 World Championship winner is the Suzuki RM-Z250, which is also available in Thailand for around 330,000 THB.

Please not forget that this motorcycles cannot be registered and are illegal to ride on the public road. Even sitting on it and getting pushed by somebody walking behind you can get you into trouble...

Hmmm.

250 sounds good.

Just checked, the Hondog CFR250L

has 3" lower saddle

than the 250 -R

[34.4" vs 37.4]

papa has had bad luck with tall bikes in the ruff.

Maybe the Huskys are too tall also.

The rep at the rally recommended the

TX125         92.2Kg    470, 000THB.
Seat height 37.7;  damn.
Do you think it would depreciate much?

Official motocross motorcycles have the worst depreciate from all motorcycles you can buy… You often can find a 1 or 2 year old dirt bike for a good price. But I would recommend that you only buy one if you can do all repair and maintenance yourself. Also a real dirtbike needs now-and-then a complete engine rebuild.

470 K for a 125 !!! For that price you could buy a new CB650F, a new CRF250L, and have 37K  left over.

Comparing a two-stroke, 2017 Husqvarna TX125 with a Honda CRF250L is comparing a MotoGP bike with a Honda Wave... On the other hand most weekend off-roaders don't need anything more powerful than a little bit modified Honda CRF250L... and keep huge amounts of money to tell about daring off-road challenges in the local pubs...

I rode motocross on Huskys in my youth, so know all about them. Built a YZ490 on 17's in the 80's before anyone coined the term Super Motard. Pro rider - then OK. Money to burn - OK.

I once had the pleasure of riding a Yamaha YZ450, and to be honest after I opened the throttle I had serious feelings that it were my last few seconds... That 490cc two-stroke was dangerous for anybody who didn't do some background check....

That is what made it fun!! I installed 2 cylinder base gaskets, to raise the ports and try and tame the brutal acceleration when you come on the pipe. My GF lived about 250km from where I worked, gravel roads, and it was hard on the HD. With the YZ just keep it pinned. Crazy !

I will have a 2nd hand 250CF Husky for sale later in the season. It is currently ridden by Lewis Stewart who competes in the FMSCT Supercross Championship. The bike will have well under 100 hours on it when available, but will confirm. It is the practice bike.
