Phang Nga tourism businesses call for improvements of deadly stretch of Koh Lak road
By The Nation

Tourism businesses in Phang Nga have called on the government to implement safety measures to prevent road accidents on a main road in tourist destination Koh Lak following frequent fatal accidents.

On Tuesday, Phisit Saengking, the president of the Phang Nga Tourist Guides Association, led a road safety committee of the Phang Nga Tourism Business Association and reporters to inspect at-risk areas on the road leading to Koh Lak beach in Tambon Khuekkhak in Takua Pa district.

Phisit said a downhill section of a road near a shopping area and resorts where tourists crossed frequently had seen frequent accidents. He said the stretch of road lacked lighting so motorists are unable to see pedestrians.

He said many foreign tourists had been killed at the area so authorities must implement measures to prevent more accidents.
