Bangkok to Vientiane by bus ?

Featured Replies

I have been told of a bus service from Mo Chit to Vientiane.

Can anyone please tell me the details, mostly times and dates, and, can I book online?

Thanks.

Screw that.

If you're looking to do it cheaply. Air Asia to Udon Thani, then get the international bus from Udon to V.

I agree with Happy Grumpy ... go to the airport and fly there ... I did it on Laos Airline and it was a pleasant flight, a couple of hours if my memory serves me right. How long will the bus take? Rather you than me!

Bus to Udon Thani or Nong Khai. There is a direct service to Vientiane from both these places. But you need to get an Lao entry visa before hand as they probably will not wait too long for you at the Laos border to get a visa-on-entry.

However you can always do the final leg to Vientiane yourself (about 20 km), but make sure you have grabbed all you bags off the bus.

YES, since at least 3 yrs now, run by BoKoSo fro the Thai side-the ''govmt'' bus that IF TV-users lower their status to using a bus,  is the only one advised too.

Thre also was a straight-thru and in fact fairly dependable and not that bad direct bus from that maligned KhaoSarn road-this has stopped.

Onlin ebooking is indeed possible, as wit any premium BoKoSO-but not by yourself, its by thaiticketmajor, can do at most tesco-service desk or via fone and pay at 7. Its a999 class superdeluxe and quite expensive and just 1/day, overnight of course, from BKK by 19/20.00. should not be that hard to find on www. You cannot just turn up and expect to find empty seats.

Of course its both cheaper and not that much more trouble to do it via a change in either Udorn or NongKhai-as above. Plenty of domestic buses-any class to there and just go to Mochit and find bus-except of course now till songkran.

Maybe even the diehard tipical TV-users are loosing their faith in the rolling antiques called train-as noone has told you about that-its also to NgKHai and chang to a diesel shuttle over the bridge. usually asap someone cries out thats the best way. read seat61 if interested.
