UBON RATCHATHANI: -- Summer storms that hit three district in Ubon Ratchathani yesterday afternoon meant a sad start to the Thai new year for many villagers.

 

Some 100 homes were damaged - some completely - in Muang, Sawang Wirawong and Phibun Mansahan districts, reported Thai Rath.

 

Power poles were down in the Hat Bung Saphang area with fifty houses damaged there.

 

Local officials mobilized to help villagers affected by the storm with emergency aid packages distributed in some areas.

 

While the weather men warned that there could be more trouble on the way with a likelihood of further storms over much of the province today.
