Bangkok-bound vehicles from North bring traffic congestion to Nakhon Sawan

Roads in Nakhon Sawan leading to Bangkok started to clog with vehicles on Saturday morning as people started returning to the capital after Songkran celebrations in the North.

As various intersections through Nakhon Sawan saw vehicle congestion, traffic police opted to manually control traffic lights to enable longer durations of green light for traffic headed to Bankok.

Police also opened two extra lanes for Bangkok-bound traffic at the Dechatiwong Bridge.

Traffic police also manned all major intersections.

Vehicles on the Phitsanulok-Nakhon Sawan Road past the Phaholyothin intersection, the Utthayan Sawan intersection, and the Dechatiwong intersection and Dechatiwong Bridge were moving at speeds of about 50 to 60km per hour.

The roads through Nakhon Sawan are always a mess mainly because the BIB don't have a clue how to correctly time the traffic lights to keep it moving at a reasonable pace. Opening the extra two lanes on the bridge does absolutely nothing other than create an additional jam and potential crashes as it immediately merges with the other lanes on the south side of the bridge.

As said, the picture is not Nakhon Sawan.
