Reliable internet connection for work

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I was wondering which broadband internet connection/data plan works best to work remotely from home here in Bangkok and connect to foreign VPN networks.

I was looking for a more professional solution considering speed/reliability and maybe a backup pocket wifi solution for mobility/backup purposes.

I know the coverage for the different areas in Bangkok greatly affects the performance so I am eventually open to relocate to a different area (I currently live in Bearing/Bang Na area).

Do you have any experience with this particular application?

Thank you!

We have both 3BB and AIS fiber so when one is down we switch over to the other - fortunately (so far) they have not been down together

You really have to figure out which ISPs offer service in your area - talk to neighbors - then investigate which packages may be on offer and meet your requirements.

Fiber to the home, so no high-rise (where VDSL might be used intra-building) , may be the optimal solution. I have experience wit both AIS and 3BB, and can recommend both/either. Great service, 100% uptime.

"Professional" packages here often include fixed IP addresses, higher upload speeds and potentially faster international bandwidth, but maybe no better reliability/up-time issues?

if you want 100% uptime, you better use dual wan or dsl/fiber/cable internet + usb 3g/4g connection.

Modern routers like Asus does support dual wan and internet + aircard failover setup.
