BANGKOK: -- Bangkok's EOD bomb disposal unit were called to the Si Praya Filtration plant belonging to the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority after a suspicious package that looked like a bomb was found.

The device - made up of wires and a couple of batteries - was found floating up against a sluice gate at the downtown facility, reported Sanook.

It was fished out by staff placed in an old car tire before bomb disposal took a look.

But it was found to be a fake bomb made up of a pencil case, some batteries and a wire from a rice cooker.

Authorities believe it may have been the work of someone intending to cause trouble who got cold feet.

Plap Pla Chai police are investigating.

How on earth could they determine that the wire came from a Rice Cooker ? Make and model please or I don't believe you.

The reporting on here is atrocious at times.

I spent in excess of 6 years with EOD and a lot of time in Belfast, we couldn't tell you where a wire came from, shakes head in amazement at their stupidity.
