BANGKOK — Bangkok’s subway system raised security measures Wednesday following the discovery of a pipe bomb found near one of its stations.

Security guards, EOD personnel and K-9 units will be on patrol 24 hours a day while bag checks at entrances will be more strictly enforced, Thiraphan Techasirinukul, acting head of system operator Metropolitan Rapid Transit, said today.

They used to shine a torch at a closed bag and wave you through, then they stopped the torch thing. Probably ran out of batteries. Maybe the torches will be back. As useless though as what I've witnessed at Siam Paragon, with people walking in the exit door and therefore avoiding security. and no-one takes any notice at all. They are like children.

As usual, give it a week and the low levels of security will be back to normal.

Thank goodness.  Bad enough having to go through security for a 5-12 hour flight.  Imagine waiting in a 10 minute line for a 5 minute subway ride.

Yeah true, fancy getting blown up, that would be a proper inconvenience!
Joking aside, they haven't got a clue about internal security.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Lolz yes, very clever - low level for underground, hi level security for the skytrain right?

Nice of them to advertise - now the bombers will be pulling their hair out trying to work out what to do... We have a bomb, we can't go by underground... any ideas?

Are they still watching the hospitals? I noticed the side door of Silkarin didn't have any obvious cameras or guards in place :spamsign:
