Song is Thai for two

Thaew* is Thai for row.

Songthaew is a transportation vehicle with 2 rows of seats in the back compartment.  In addition, there are the very different (from songthaews and from each other) minibuses and minivans.

*Many variations on spelling.

Thank you Konini.  Agree, calling a song thaew a mini bus is incorrect, confusing and perhaps a bit daft.

Take the white songtaew towards San kampaeng and jump off at the ring rd...15 minute walk to Prom.  Middle of the night I asked one of the tuktuks in front of Porn Payom (soapy place) and it was 200.  150 from a red by airport plaza the year before.  Getting back is much easier...just walk past the pack and find one going to AP, or even Worrorat and then it is an easy 20 home, after 50 or 60 to Gert closer to town.

Don't quite understand this 'jump off at ring road'. Could you please narrow down the location.

The 1006/3029 intersection.....less than 2 km from Prom.  The whites go back and forth from the old city to San kampaeng on 1006.

Got it but this location is even further than the Big C route along highway 11.

Where do you catch the Big C bus in town?  Also, what about the blues that run from Worrorat market to Lamphun and go by Holiday Inn?  How close would that get you....there are definitely some obstacles back in there as far as walking, but 3029 would be OK, with no major interchanges.

Hopefully in the future, somebody here can tell us how to go to Big C from city center.

If it is arcade, then not a good way...that is why I mentioned the blue.  But, next time I come home from Prom, I might consider cutting through to Big C and getting a ride on 11, but 11 is to far to the east of the city.  The question is where does blue connect from Holiday Inn to 11, it may go right in front of Big C.

Blue?

If you mean the blue songtheaws to Lamphun, they don't go anywhere near highway 11. I already said that before.

Then, so far, the White from Worrorat and a 15 minute walk is the best option for getting to Prom on the cheap.  Not a good biking destination at all.

My theory is that I don't spend 200 baht ( the cost of a return trip on a red songtheaw ) on something else. For most it would easily be accomplished by not going to the bar one night or not eating a western meal with drinks for one time.

I always choose the bus painted like Furthur.

what does 'further' mean in terms of a bus? Yellow?  I have stuck to red songtiels in the past.  But that's a great idea & I want to do this. Thanks.  Need to get going....many holidays.
