June 21, 20178 yr Hello- A friend of mine from Australia recently got married in Bangkok to a Thai woman. I was invited to the wedding but could not attend. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant or store from which I could but them a gift card of 5,000 baht or so? Is there a customer service desk at EmQuartier, could I just get them a gift card there, or does anyone have better recommendations? A spa? I'm flying to Bangkok next week and will probably meet up with the guy at a bar and don't want to carry an actual gift. I know it is customary for people to give cash wedding gifts in Thailand but I'd rather not do that, just a cultural difference. Thanks.
June 21, 20178 yr I don't know about EmQuartier but you probably can. If not I know you can get a gift card/vouchers at Central Chidlom.
June 21, 20178 yr Just give the dude 5,000 baht cash, way easier for everyone involved then he has a chance to blow it on whatever he chooses instead of getting yet another crappy gift he doesn't want or need.
June 22, 20178 yr Author I don't want to give him cash. I believe that giving a friend cash as a gift is crass. He's not Thai, I didn't attend the wedding.
June 22, 20178 yr Centara Hotels have gift certificates in various denominations. Can be used at any of their resorts, so might be nice for a weekend away with his new bride.

Ok, hire him two hookers for the night at 2,500 baht each. That would make him a very happy man and remember it for the rest of his life.
