June 27, 20178 yr Hi. Does anyone know how to check traffic fines existing? I mean I don't know, do I already have fines or not, so I want to check it :) And what is the responsibility for non-payment of them? The thing is I changed my living place several times since the time I bought a car, so if the fines exists, they sent to my old address, listed in residence certificate. Thanks.
June 28, 20178 yr You can always update you Blue book at the land transport office. You would need the famous "address certificate" from Immigration or a work permit and at some offices they accept the Yellow Book. I did it in the pass for my motorcycle. Most people never update their addresses for their vehicle Blue Book. or Green Book. If you get a fine by mail and it is not paid in time, I believe the next time you want to renew the annual road tax , they will not renew it unless you pay your fines at the police station. This is what most people explain on the TV forum and it was in the Bangkok Post too. I guess then you may decide to change your address in the Blue book to avoid this kind of inconvenience.
June 28, 20178 yr If you change address to a different province from where the vehicle is registered, then you need to get new numberplates, so it can be a bit more involved than a simple change of addressSent from my PE-TL10 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Yes, typically renewing registration involves paying road tax and compulsory insurance. All my vehicles are registered in BKK including the Honda 250 Rally I recently purchased in Pattaya, Ive never lived in BKK but my work permit lists a BKK address as my abode (address is head office of the company I work for). Am keen to hear an answer to the OP though as I through all my fines straight in the bin.

I through all my fines straight in the bin.You may have some problems next time you try to "renew registration"or try to sell the vehicles if you dont pay the fines. In my opinion paying tax and insurance yearly is not "renewing registration"Registration is to do with the engine/chassis numbers and the number or "registration" plate as well as who is the legal owner.Paying tax and insurance can be done in any province no mater what the "registration" plate province is.
June 28, 20178 yr Unpaid fines show up (or should) when you go to pay road tax, you must clear the fine then go back to get your road tax..

They re-issued using my old address, and told me that if I wanted the address registered in my current province, I would need to get it done there, where they would issue new plates.

Meh, registration/road tax, called different things depending on your country of origin, some call it the "MOT". As for unpaid fines, they are peanuts so will be no great burden to sort if needed.
June 28, 20178 yr In my experience Fines are payable on the spot and really of no great consequence. 300 Baht for a tail light out and the same for a little speeding. Never heard of the cops sending them in the post.

Similar here - vehicles bought and registered to address in Chon Buri but renewed road tax (square paper 'sticker') and compulsory insurance in both Hua Hin and BKK without any concern. Always best to have vehicles registered to an address where they are not actually kept !
