Pickup driver arrested with 400,000 meth pills in Mukdahan

By The Nation

A pickup truck driver tried to run a police checkpoint in Mukdahan, resulting in a chase that ended when police crashed into the rear of vehicle, leading to the discovery of 400,000 methamphetamine pills.

Pol Captain Adiska Srichanda, an officer from Koktume police station in Mukdahan’s Dong Luang district, said the chase happened at 8am on the Dong Luang-Koktume road.

He said the pickup refused to stop and sped past the checkpoint. The officers who pursued it decided to hit the rear of the truck, prompting it to stop.

Police said the truck was driven by Somkid Boonkong, 34, from Sukhothai. The 400,000 meth pills were found hidden in the cab behind the driver’s seat.
