Mild tremor detected in Lamphun

By The Nation

A mild 1.3 magnitude earthquake was felt in Lamphun province, the Seismological Bureau of the Thai Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

The bureau reported that quake’s epicentre was about 2 kilometres deep and was located in the province's Banthi district.

Tinnakorn Thathong, director of the Mineral Resources Office Zone 1 for 17 northern provinces, said the 1.3 level tremor was very mild and people nearby were not even aware of it. Besides, the quake happened deep underground, he added.

He said the quake happened apparently because of the Mae Tha fault, which is a small fault that is still active.

How was it for you tilak? Somchai you silly bugger it was an earthquake not you.

Can anyone here feel a 1.3 quake?   Does anything hanging from the ceiling in your house swing?

still scary maybe a bigger one to follow

Reminds me of when I once stayed in a Motel in LA. Woke up in the easrly hours of the morning and saw theceiling light swinging. Realised it was an earthquake, but couldn't feel anything, so rolled over and went back to sleep. Apparently the epicentre was on the Mexican border.
