Anyone using AIS fibre in North Pattaya area?

I see AIS is slowly increasing coverage, 100mbps for 899 THB.

My question is anyone using it, what do you think?

I currently use Banglamung Cable internet, cant complain to be honest but only paying 590 for 14mbs (and free tv) I asked them how much their fibre packages are, they quoted me 1,990 THB for 50mbps, 1490 for 30. I pointed out AIS were much cheaper and would they lower their prices given there is now more competition, no she said- AIS and BTV internet are not the same. I said sure, yours is double the price for half the speed! Just wondered if AIS does what it says on the tin? What does she mean by'not the same?'

Its being advertised on signposts around my area, also says its available online. I live in a house so no idea about floors etc.

Had 3BB for years before I changed to BTV, Their service/customer service was appalling-would not touch them with a barge pole.

I live in the Naklua area and have been on AIS fibre for 3 months . Can't complain so far, its the cheapest package, I pay a little over 600 baht.
I do not need very fast lines, the TV stream and downloads works fine without interruption.

Thanks for the replies, are you getting the speeds it says on the tin? Can you download torrents OK?

Yes speed is there, I download torrents using bittorrent. But I'm not in a rush so if it takes minutes or 1 hour I don't care.

Thanks, I hear you.

I was just interested that you could download torrents. I have AIS in my condo in BKK and for some reason cannot.

I'm using AIS Fibre  in Bangkok in a condo.

I was on their 30/10 plan and was fairly consistently getting 30 Mbs download using the ADSL test  with it only dipping at the usual busy times.  Torrents worked fine for me subject  to the usual international bandwidth limitations but recently i quite often saw 30Mbs on those as well.  . Given how well it worked and with a shiny new ASUS router giving a little better performance I decided to upgrade to the 100/10 plan.

They told me in the shop that condos cant have 100/10  but that other users in my condo were using 75/10 OK.   I ordered it 4 weeks ago but they only did the change July 1st and it was rubbish frankly. The download speed has dropped to a consistent 15Mbs sec. I've had  multiple calls with very friendly but ultimately ineffective support staff who claimed to have fixed it 4 times they have been unable to change  it. After a week I've asked them to put it back to 30Mbs because there seems to be no point in paying more money for less speed . However they cant do that change until the end of the first billing cycle apparently so i have a few weeks to try things if anyone with experience on AIS  has any suggestions.

A couple of learning points from this. You can check your current plan if you enter  www.myaisfibre.com   while logged in

The ADSL speed test gives different results in different browsers.  I get the highest speeds in Edge and the lowest in Firefox .

The solution to this was user error.  They   bridged the DSL Modem to Port 1 and the  Router was plugged into port 4  so it was routing not bridging. Very happy with download speed now.

Update- Got 50/10 AIS in, speed hovers around 45-50 but streaming is a disaster. I told them take their equipment back so I can stay with BTV.  They asked me to give them a week., if not fixed by then they will uninstall with no charges. 12mbps from BTV (CAT) either outperforms AIS at the moment, or is equal. Downloading a 1gig torrent took 14 mins on AIS, 14 mins 30 seconds on BTV.  very weird.......

Hey , the speed is terrible to servers outside Thailand  , been for 2 weeks , is it because of Christmas ?

I can't watch any streamed content except at late night .  Is it AIS or any ISP ?  I'm starting to get fed up of this.

I am also fed up with AIS. Had it almost a year now and I think I will go back to 3BB. Wife called them the other day & asked them to pick up their equipment as we are going to cancel once the 12 months is up. Their reply was that we had to return the equipment to their office in Rayong at Central SM. Thats almost 40klm from where I live.

Any one else have this problem where they wont cancel & pick up their equipment?

Many thanks.

I’ve been with 3BB since 2008. I find them pretty steady. Currently on 3BB Fibre 100/30 mb / ฿700 per month

Very few problems with 3BB over the years and techs pretty prompt if needed. Pattaya Klang, Big C Extra area

Same here with AIS, I've been with them since September 2015, and were brilliant to start. Now terrible, streaming impossible, I think they are concentrating all their effort on their playbox, so they can out do True.

Have many problems with them all through the year, but since their free upgrade on December 2nd, which I didn't want or ask for, service is rubbish.

Reported the problem on December 12th via emails and phone calls, don't return phone calls and don't answer e-mails seem to be having lots of problems.

Last  e-mail received was on December 31st, this was their reply.

Thank you for your information.  I will follow the issues up for you and keep you informed.  Once again sorry for an inconveniences has been caused to you.

I have heard nothing since. Have got 3BB coming Monday to discuss installation.

Thanks for the heads up as I was thinking about ditching my 50mb True and getting AIS, I also live in the Banglamung area.

Not because of problems with the speed and can download stuff very fast too.

The reason is that I have a triple package that I pay 2700 for per month: Gold tv-sim card-inet.

I just ditch the Gold package and the sim card and keep the fiber inet.

It was back again after 2 hours, TIT.

It's been doing this for a few days now. Fibre connected but no net connectivity. Looks like the routing to BKK is being "fixed" by a Somchai. I expect it to go to total crap, that's what usually happens a couple of months after I change ISP. There's just no hope.
