Go to a Scuba Dive Shop, no joke. Many Scuba Instructors can teach the "Emergency first response" course. This course is not focused on diving. You can find more Information at this site: www.emergencyfirstresponse.com . There is a Coursefinder too. So you will find a Instructor for you. I attended this course by myself, I liked it.

Really ??

Ok, will have a look, but what I am after is a general first aid course for my wife and nanny, this is basically for the care of my kids, should any life threatening emergancy arise at home or wherever, I want them to know what to do, in this country it may mean the difference between life and eath for one of my kids.

So certainly cpr techniques etc as well as all the responses for injuries, breaks, burns, poisoning, choking etc etc...

Do these dive places provide this type of instruction to this extent ??

As I wrote bevore, it's not diverelated. Just have a look at the webadresse I gave you. There you will get all Informations. And all your Requests are covered in this course. There is a a Course for each, First Aid for Adults and Children. You start of with some selfstudy, for that your receive a Book, then atending the Course finishing with a Test. To do a refresh from time to time is not a bad Idea too.

This is an old thread but it appears to be the only one on Thai Visa that deals with my problem. Unfortunately, the OP is banned and the link above is non functional, so I would like to reopen this discussion.

This morning my 16 month old daughter choked on a piece of sticky rice. The episode went on for nearly a minute, with her unable to speak or cough with any reasonable volume, and myself and my wife both trying desperately to clear her airway by turning her over and pounding on her back while my wife tried to reach in with her finger and clear the blockage.

We got lucky and somehow my daughter managed to swallow the food despite our machinations, but some searching on the internet afterward has shown me exactly how many things we did wrong. The terror I felt at that time is something I never want to repeat again. If something like this were to reoccur, I don't think I could live with myself if I didn't take this opportunity to learn how to handle this situation properly.

I would like to find a CPR course with a live instructor in the Thai language that explains how to perform necessary life savings maneuvers on toddlers and small children. Something in Bangkok would be ideal, but we will drive to the provinces if that is what is required.

Can anyone tell us where such a course may be offered?

I did my 'Emergency Response First Aid Course' with Mermaid Dive Center in Pattaya last year.

Pretty good course as detailed in a previous post above. It is just a general first Aid course with CPR and AED, not diving related.

Go and have a look at the Oil & gas offshore training courses....as part of the training need to do a basic first aid course (CPR obiously covered)...look up MOGIT in Laem Chabang or Songkhla or talk to Falkirk have similar courses in Samut Prakam, something like this would suit...been trying to get Mrs Soutpeel to do one for mthe last 2 years...
