Skype Mobile Anroid Update-Help

Featured Replies

The ThaiTech newsletter has an article regarding the bl**dy awful recent Skype mobile update with which I totally agree. I have searched TV Forums and can find no comment regarding this in ThaiVisa.

The main Win10 versions still works as usual, which I like, but the new android app is in my opinion totally unusable and is/now was my main method of contact worldwide.

I have tried to get in direct contact with Skype regarding this (I have used the ‘feedback channels but they are pointless) as I always get redirected to either signing into a ‘Community’ or asked to answer FAQ’s. When logged in it says you can get ‘email’ contact but all I get is redirected into a loop.

My questions are does anyone know of;

1. A direct contact e-mail address/channel that can be used out with the ‘Community’ or FAQ set up etc: inside Skype?

2. A method of getting back my outstanding credit that I have with them as it looks like I will have to leave them?

3. A way of downloading an older version of the app. This all happened because of an Android/phone update. I have tried uninstalling but all I get is this latest, unwanted version.

4. What are the best alternatives to Skype for near instant (Skype like) English/Thai communication, particularly in Thailand?

Any help or advice will be welcome.

1. Uninstall Skype. Go to Android settings - Apps and uninstall.

2. Download an older version from that link. It will have an apk extension file name.

3. Go to Settings - security and make sure Unknown sources is switched on otherwise it won't allow you to install it.

4. Find the apk file you downloaded and click on it to install.

5. If it works make sure you don't update again from Google store by selecting the Skype app from the list under My Apps and games. It opens the main screen of the app. Go to the top right hand corner where you will see a magnifying glass search symbol and a vertical dotted line next to it. Select and switch off auto update.

I just saw the update the other day and grabbed my other phone to return a call,

I guess a web designer got paid big bucks to make the App  less "industrial"

I want my Industrial back please  :)

Thanks to trd's advice I have reset my Skype back to an older version (same as desktop basically) and can now receive pics etc; that were being rejected on the new Andriod version and have all my old 'functionality' back.

Well done guys.

I went back to the old version within a day. The new one is utter, utter sh
