Yeah, but. . .

If the characters in the picture are the "parasailing men", I reckon I'd think twice before letting them take me for any kind of ride.

Operating a company on a public beach without the proper licenses, paperwork, insurances, safety procedures, seems like a very long time. Here is an idea how about to check all these (fake) companies on all thaibeaches about these formalities including the Jetski boys!

Even if it were the Aussie man's fault, you have to ultimately take responsibility as the carers.

You have to make sure everything is working and has been explained. Can't leave things to chance. Unless the Ozzie man had a knife on him and decided to cut himself free, etc, the blame lies completely with the people entrusted with his safety.

Here's my prediction; the operator pays tea money to avoid prosecution, Raster man gets scape goated and, business goes on as usual.

Surely there's no cause to gloat.

How can the victim be blamed for what was two operators incompetence not looking after his safety first ?

What did the victim knew of parasailing ?

Another avoidable death on the islands........

Now everyone should know how dangerous it is to be on your own in the hands of islanders not thinking of

safety but only of money....

We all know if looking like haven that can be hell.....and it shows its danger much too often by road, sea, air and etc...etc...

Why five hospitals are open 24/7/365 on a small island if not for emergencies ?

Sorry, disagree.

It matters not. Many MANY Thai's adopt this perspective, they even voice it at times. Witnessed it in more than one fraught incident. Living in Thailand it's a mindset you'd be well advised to accept exists, if you don't want to be driven insane in almost any dispute, and feel as though you' ve been treated unfairly.  Usually the more serious the matter the more likely this belief is voiced by a Thai in defence of a Thai, against a farang complaint. I have one friend for whom this argument cost him millions of bht unfairly, it was that or face jail, despite a kid running out in front of him on Songkan with water pistol in hand and he's far from alone, but then what is fairness, its just a point of view. Remember Aliens shouldn't land if they don't want to be spotted.

I think you need to pull your head out ...... :shock1:

Great inspirational input by the way, on this story.

Resorting to insulting instead of debating says a lot about you.

The man let go and fell!! but he was in a harness so who undone the harness? Ether way the tourist did not look like a para gliding expert in the film so I doubt he would have undone the harness. I smell a rat.

Health & Safety has to be FOOLPROOF - especially in holiday venues like Pattaya........ it clearly wasn't, there can be no excuse, regardless of how "accident-free" they claim to be it sounds it was more by luck than intent.

Just take it on the chin and Pattaya will be seen as a responsible place as regards H&S - obfuscate and prevaricate and it just reinforces the image that no-one in Thailand every accepts responsibility for their actions.

I don't suppose there'll be an insurance payout any time soon?

The beach guys have no insurance.

Any travel insurance likely voided due to 'dangerous' activity.

Really sorry that dead body cannot speak anything. Only truth is the statement of these sunglasses clans. This case will go off with 500 fine, until they found a scapegoat.

They already found the scapegoat - the Aussie guy.

I would have expected the usual small fine but according to news reports these 2 guys are in the main Phuket prison so maybe the BiB are taking this ore seriously, no police station fine, go through the court system. We will to wait and see.

at 2:28 into the video you clearly see the old guy put his right hand out to grab something ,

he starts falling ,

you clearly see the thai guy try grab and hold him.

in my view the thai operators are to blame, the old guy should not have been able to release himself by any means possible .

the operators are negligent and should be immedietely banned for life,       get hefty prison sentences and pay a very large amount of compensation to this guys family and have his body flown home .

Disagree as much as you like but Thais are irresponsible at their core and if you were not here it would not have happened is a common cultural paradigm here.

It's also true

Easy to blame a dead victim.

As there was a supposedly eperienced operator up there with him the chance of this happening should have been impossible. Reckless.

The two Thai men are blaming the Aussie for the accident !!

Well of course they would, when have you ever heard of a Thai taking responsiblity for anything.

You should know advice given to Thais by farangs is considered as defamation.

And it was lucky he didnt hit the water near a jet ski, or they may have claimed for damage to a jet ski.

and the widow would have had to pay for the repair of the jet ski... As Dogmatix said earlier, do not ever engage in any of these activities in Thailand ever, the risk is just too high!

One very easy way to solve the problem would  plainly be to just keep away from the jetski, parasail, motor boat and other improvised beach entertainment cowboys in Thailand. Simple.

Let them go bankrupt and perhaps...perhaps, then they will learn.....but unfortunately, when on holiday, many just don't care and leave their brains and common sense in the airport.

RIP to the poor fellow.

Simply share the video and the words of these two criminals at the most.

If you ever come to Thailand never ever trust any kind of activity and attractions. The few the operate regularly and safely pays for the deadly reputation given from those criminals.

May they rot in jail for life. B@$tard$.

That is a saying only found on forums like this.

That's not true. About 16 years ago on a package holiday from the UK in a 4 star hotel in Phuket there was information in the room about hiring cars and they gave the exact same warning about having an accident in a hired car!!!

Exactly the same text - "If the farang wasn't here, it would never have happened, so it must be his fault" !

Bit of a crazy statement to make on this thread.

There have been some horrendous "accidents" in fun parks in Australia of late resulting in deaths and injuries. Not only Thailand

Unless you were there and witnessed everything best not to speculate ,doesnt help his family one bit

Have been going to Thailand for 30 years and yes this line of thinking is fairly common among a lot of Thais. Particularly with some Authorities . If you werent here this wouldn't have happened sometimes comes into the equation. When it comes to deciding who is at fault. Strange but true.

Which is strange, because I've not heard it ever said once by any Thais, but rather by the usual Thai bashing Farangs on here. Weird isnt, it's almost like those farangs have a chip on their shoulder or something.
