shanesox Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 A lot of street businesses for sale, rent or boarded up along Rama 4 and into The last half of Sukhumvit ! Ironic that all the folk going off to Mega Bangna passing the closed Street businesses. The Malls are going to be all that's left with more being built! tonray Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Nah...they keep building condos with Family Marts too
VocalNeal Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Thais call it progress. Until they walk outside their condo and there are no restaurants and nothing to buy.
observer90210 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 A big loss for Thai society.....and a big loss in weekly tea money contributions for the concerned!!...Brings us to the fact is perhaps that's why some had to close down as the tea-money rents increased too much!
dddave Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 I your referring to the Phra Khanong end of Rama-4, Condo's going up like weeds in a vacant lot. It's interesting that shopping malls in the US and Western Europe are struggling to stay open as more and more shopping moves to the internet. Almost every major item (B2000+) I've purchased this past year or two has been bought online...just so easy and convenient and usually in my hands within a few days. More and more Thais I know are shopping online, especially through Facebook. All these new malls here may soon be in trouble as well however, those that have successfully marketed themselves as social destinations will probably do OK.
