KOH SAMET: -- Thai media reported that a 58 year old tourist from Milan had drowned off a beautiful and quiet Koh Samet beach on Wednesday.

Ban Phe police investigator Banlang Bunrit and medics were called to the island where they went to the area in front of the Nimmandee Resort on Ao Pakarang.

The victim who was dressed in a swimsuit was named as 58 year old Paola Emilia Bindi from Milan, Italy.

She had apparently been on the island for 10 days and had taken a vehicle to go swimming with a friend at Kon Ao beach that was described by 77Jowo as beautiful, quiet and lacking in waves.

People at the beach saw the victim lying face down in the water off shore and though she was hurriedly brought to the beach she was already dead.

She had been staying at a resort in Ao Phai.

Police said she was known to be suffering from a medical condition. The body was sent for autopsy and relatives have been contacted.

58 is far too young to die.

I hope it is some consolation to her friends and family that her last few hours were spent enjoying such a beautiful place as Ao Pakarang.
