Having severe difficulty finding the Samsung model I want in Thailand. I'm looking for a mid-range (NON-CURVED) 65-inch 4K TV.

I have narrowed my shortlist down to Samsung's 2016 UA65KS8000 or 9000 or Sony's X930E

Budget is 100,000 but prepared to go higher.

Usual suspects Emporium, Siam Paragon only have the new model MU Series which are not as good as the SUHD models (like the KS8000/9000) that preceded them and significantly more expensive than outside Thailand.

Does anyone know of a specialist TV retailer or website (Not Lazada - already tried) where I might have some joy.

Muchos Gracias

Can only suggest the tv sections on the following websites and you can give them a call:

akihabara in silom - akibkk.com

avvalue located in MBK - avvalue.com

Also have you tried directly with Samsung or the Sony stores in some of the malls and on their websites for linking to who retails the models you are after.

The Samsung Tvs your looking for is last years upper end models. SUHD Tvs are still a premium, especially sizes above 49".

Your not considering an LG?

I know they're last year's models.

Not considering LG unless the price of OLED models like the B6 have come down to more realistic levels in Thailand.

You can get them in the US/UK for 30% cheaper and that's a differential I can't live with.

The non-OLED models aren't anything special and to be honest, although I'm considering the Samsungs, I have more confidence in Japanese electronics than I do in Korean.

UPDATE: I managed to find the Sony X930E on Lazada for a decent 99,000 - It turns out it's called the X9300E (extra "0") outside US market .

I have a 930D upgraded to Marshmallow recently.  They tell me the E has a faster processor. I don't have any problems with the rendering engine in the D.  Since I don't in the US or UK why would I care about a TV price differential?  My house is 2 million baht cheaper than the US. I bought the Sony because of the Android TV system.  Check out the different operating systems between Sony and LG.  Since Sony upgraded to Marshmallow it's no debate.  I have 3 TB storage among other things.  Check out how the TV handles upgrading images from lesser broadcasters or older movies.  How many movies will the dealer include with the TV?  Mine filled 2 portable 1 TB hard drives.

I care about the rice differential.

I already have an extensive movie and TV show library amassed over the last 10 years stored on 9TB of storage so I doubt there's much the dealer can offer me in that regard that I don't already have.

I don't know what the rice differential is.  How many of your titles are in the Thai language?  In 3D?  In 4K?  How will your TV handle using portable drives to download content?  How many games do you have?  How will your TV handle game pads and sound bars?  Woofers?  How about casting?  Keyboards?  Earphones?  Can you watch your TV shows on a Tablet while you are in the toilet or do you have to pause and poop with no entertainment?  Can you pause a live show?  Will your TV do that?

Sorry but who are you and why are you asking me these inane questions?

I didn't come here to justify my choice of TV (which, I might add, is the evolution of the one you say you have).

If you want to discuss TV minutiae, might I suggest you join an AV forum.
