A Thai couple has been arrested in Bangkok for selling bullets online, although they claimed they did so to get money to raise their seven-year-old autistic son, police say.

The unnamed couple – a 30-year-old man and his wife, aged 28, who worked for a gun shop in Burapha area – were nabbed at an apartment in Soi Charansanidwong 35 on Thursday.

A search of their room yielded 2,775 bullets of various sizes, Pol Maj General Surachet Hakpan, the 191 patrol and special operation division's chief, said on Friday.

They reportedly confessed to being contacted by two others, identified only as Thanawin and Chanipol, via the Line app to provide ammunition in exchange for a fee of Bt300 per box. They said they did this for a month to cover their son's medical bills.

Police applied for a search warrant for the couple's room following the previous arrest of drug and gun suspect Wayuth Thamya in Sai Mai district of July 14, which uncovered a courier box from his ammunition supplier.

A subsequent stake-out at the Kerry courier in Pinklao found 17 more packages for Wayuth from the same supplier, but they weren't able to open them as per the company's rule.

Police traced the motorcycle taxi that delivered the boxes to the apartment, which they then staked-out for two days until they could secure the search warrant.

Dear Pol Maj General, it's called "caliber". If you use that term, it might make you sound more competent.

Or in the Queen's English, "calibre". Size really does matter.

Top marks for spelling, but sadly it happens to be "King's English" and will always be, regardless of the gender of the reigning monarch.

King's English was a book published at the turn of the last century, for correct use of the English language.:wai:

Sorry about their autistic son, but there's absolutely no excuse for supplying ammunition, presumably to those who can't buy legally.

Why not just sell fake memory cards and power banks like everyone else on line? It's a lot less trouble.
