Changing Host ... Tot Proxy Problems ...

Featured Replies

A couple of days I changed my hosting provider and updated the DNS for the new provider.

By FTP I uploaded some stuff to the new server in a directory 'X' by using the IP number.

When the DNS resolved and was updated (I checked WHOIS at register.com) I tried to open the stuff

in the 'X' directory.

When I tried to open this directory 'domain.us/x/index.html' I received a '404' (file not found) error.

But when I change the settings to a third party proxy server(asianet), it opens without a problem.

Is TOT to blame for this by updating DNS too slow and can it be resolved?

That's normal, DNS is slow to update. You may be able to flush your PC's DNS cache by rebooting, but no guarantee as it may be your ISP's DNS cache.

A pain in the b*tt ... I've flushed DNS already ... but actually I am not using TOT's DNS, but OpenDNS. Doesn't solve anything.

Are proxy and DNS two different things?
