BANGKOK: -- Police in Bangkok announced the arrest of a gang of three burglars from Colombia and Puerto Rico who stole from houses in three provinces.

The gang were arrested at the weekend at the Windmill Park A housing estate in Samut Prakarn.

Police found them in possession of more than 1000 stolen items including two safes, jewelry, watches, brand name bags, amulets and two guns.

They were using two Toyota Vios cars to tour round housing estates. Four fake plates were found in their possession.

Police said CCTV evidence showed the gang would drive around the estates then target big houses where there were no people, no dogs and no lights on.

They said the gang had admitted to a string of thefts in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakarn.

Householders in these areas are invited to go to Ratanathibet police station to reclaim stolen property and identify the gang.

In line with recent directives the gang were not paraded for the press. Deputy chief of the Region 1 police Thana Chuwong handled the press conference.

Much of the stolen property - sometimes around a million baht's worth from each house - plus tools used in the burglaries was on display.

They've been over in the philles teaching them how to make real yaba. Thailand is a short ride away. The meth is sure to follow.

I hope that these foreignors get lots of quality jail time in Thailand before getting deported to their

home countries.

Four or five years ago, a similar Colombian gang was operating  in Pattaya/Chonbury area, same M.O.  when they were arrested they had a pretty large stash of stolen goods.  They would get together a good load and fill a container and send it off to South America where any kind of luxury goods are scarce and get top dollar.

Authorities said at the time that these were well organized and financed international burglary gangs, not just itinerant thieves.
