Wish to know if there are money changers in Bangkok who give better rate for the S$s than the established booths. Thanks.

super rich has a website.  just google them.  they show their rates.  you can compare those to major bank rates (google bangkok bank exhange rates as an example).

i've lived in bangkok for 10 years and change money often.

Better to have your passport as usually they ask for it

Not aware of a minima amount.

Check up the website of SuperRich as I think that in certain currencies, depending on the note denomimnation, you get a higher or lower rate.

Customs declaration needs to be done if the amount is more then US$  20'000 when entering Thailand.

You can also try exchange offices run by Arabs in soi 3/1. good rates and they're open until late and the weekends

Now you're talking, pal. What are the risks involved, would you know? Are they honest? You dont mean in Pratunam, do you?

I know a restaurant guy in Pattaya who promised to give me a great rate for dollars but I dont intend to go there soon or know anybody who would. But my friends are forever going to BKK and changing money is no fun according to them. I really want it to be fun. After all, you go to BKK to spend, dont you?

Well, you can see the rates before entering the shop. What you see is what you get....

I used them many times when it happened that I needed Baht late at night.... no risks at at all

I would not change a penny from such freelancers who tempt farangs with better rates as they can either pass on fake currency or could be under police surveillance.

Don't get involved with such third parties as it can only lead to trouble. Stick to the official exchange booths.

Point taken, partially. But with a reliable local contact, I have heard that block deals can be done at rates half of what you get at the official counters. They are not interested in fleecing you or robbing you of your money, all they want is business and they cater for big spenders.  These guys have contacts in Dubai as well, another place where big spenders are always visiting especially from the States. Unfortunately, I havent been able to talk to someone in BKK.

Why wont you like to have 30,000 bahts extra for 5000 dollars which is typically the amount Americans like to spend on one trip. 200,000 baht for 5000 dollars is a deal, isnt it? And they dont want to see your passport either.

no one is going to give you 200,000thb for 5,000usd.  that is 40 to 1 while the rate is around 33 now.

Lets see here.  Let me find this guy in Ekmai for you. I will be your best friend. Or him for sure :stoner:

so you start the thread asking about places to exchange money.  now you are asking if i'd like to bet that you can do it at 40 to 1 ?  good chatting with you.

Havent approached these money changers myself. Havent got their names and numbers. Only heard about them from friends. I talk to a lot of people. The bet, a cuppa coffee, poor man from India, buddy, still on, my sources are reliable but havent got the specifics. Can get it if you are patient. Deal?
