Do you dye your hair?

Sometimes I'm watching TV, preferably on Fridays enjoying the General's address to his people. And very often TV shows the busy Parliament with busy members yawning, typing on their phone or reading or just close their eyes because of better concentration.

Every time I'm impressed by the hair color of men and women.

99% are deep black. On their scalp. I mean hair.

Why they do that? Compare this with our parliaments we have only a few.

Why there is a difference? I learned that Thais respect the elderly. But how they know who is old and who is pretending to be young. Old means here "kaputt"? Done? Or do they have "Angst" to become "phased out"?  Is this to  reflect the glamour, body cult, and youth craze of pop culture?

I haven't seen as much in China.

What do you think?

My Korean ex always looked her best in the morning before getting out the trowel and paint-box in typical Korean style

Hmmm that is rare i think, most girls I know look better after a bit of make up.. too much can ruin a look too. (but of course a matter of preference)

Some people like it as it makes them look younger, why not.. take pride in your appearance.. and if a dye job looks good on you why not

No problem with taking pride in one's appearance, however when the dye job on an older male is extremely obvious and makes one look fairly ridiculous, then that's a different story – – – problem is there are so many of them around these days!

I think it depends on the dye job... (i have had no need of it yet) but seen some good ones if your willing to pay a bit extra.

Good ones you say ................. names please. I am partial to some dye but the ones available make the scalp and hair black and don't last. A more natural black would be nice not jet black which is available here.

Sorry mate, i once researched it a while back for a friend and found some others that were not jet black. I will look if i can still find the data its been a while. I also read up on other dyes that leave some grey in the hair to make it look more natural. I will look if i can find it again.

People in the world seem to be becoming a bit more self-involved. Instead of playing team sports, they will go to a gym and stare at themselves for a couple hours. No surprises that they will then go home and fix up their hair to stare at themselves for a bit longer. Maybe take a few selfies.

Agree, girls look better without make up. Also, many Thai haven't learnt the skill of applying it. The Mrs just ends up looking like a clown.

The 'Just for Men' range is super ... I use the medium brown for my sides and even my mother doesn't notice.

Furthermore they now have a new product called Control GX which is a shampoo which reduces grey gradually with each wash ... and forever.

Always nice to keep that in mind for the future.

Some people like team sports others (me) prefer going to the gym. I don't stare to myself I workout and because I workout at home I am also not showing off or anything like that. Even if people liked themselves I don't see a problem with that. I find that most people who play team-sports do it for the alcohol that flows after the sport and never really seem to get in shape from doing such a sport.

I do like stuff like badminton at times.. its just a bit harder to set up then going to my own home gym and working out.

Haven't they now linked overly obsessive gym users to having body image disorders? Wonder if the hair dye fits anywhere into it. I am not saying you personally (as I would have no idea of your schedule), but it seems to have become a real problem. Hence, the abuse of supplements/drugs etc - which is obviously counterproductive to the reasons given as why people go to gym, as it is not at all healthy.

It all depends what you call obsessive.. I mean often the dedicated are called obsessive by the lazy. My training varies, its not the same all through the year. I got my ups and downs, right now I got an up.. 4 times lifting a week and (in a good week 7 days of cardio 25 minutes though I hate it have to admit its usually less)  . There is not much abuse in supplements because in general they are all safe. Drugs, yes they can be abused, depends a bit on the person some use others don't some users use little amounts and some abuse it.

Personally I keep in shape because i turned fat at one point.. and I don't ever want to be a fat slob again. Its a personal thing. I take pride not to be fat, and carry a bit of muscle. You won't find many selfies on my phone.. or pictures of me at all. Whenever a picture is taken i will look wrong on it. Never got the whole posing for pics done. Only times they are good if I don't know they are taken.

But I am not joking when i said that team sports usually don't get people in shape because of the amounts of alcohol consumed later on. Its often a proven fact, im exercising to stay in shape (combined with a healthy diet). When your in shape you got far more energy to do stuff you sleep better you got less stress. My dad bikes 12.000-15.000 km a year has kept him in good shape he got far more energy as the average 67 yo.

Depends on the level of team sports people play. If it is an incredibly low standard, it may be a 'fact'. But usually that is, yes, a purely social thing. No one claims they are doing it to be 'healthy'. Team sports at a bit more a higher level train a lot harder and also a lot smarter. Alcohol is limited more also.

Don;t get me wrong, I have periods where I work out. I just lost 18kg with illness (98 down to 80), so I am working out at home a little bit just to put some weight back on (198cm). Otherwise my dog will be dragging me down the street lol. But I think if it reaches a point where it takes over a little bit then it has become obsessive. Like people who have to eat certain things at exact times of the day. Put it ahead of possibly more important things in their lives.

Where it is a body image problem in society I think is entertainment. Movies, TV shows, magazines, music artists, porn, whatever, all men have perfect bodies. So it is becoming tougher for a lot of people, just like it was/is for a lot of women. Which isn't a healthy path to go down.

I admit most team sports I encountered were not at a high level at all. I am talking local soccer clubs and stuff. The amounts of beer going through those on a sunday were amazing.

I got the opposite problem, i turn fat if i don't watch my food or exercise (more about watching food). I think that some people like me HAVE to eat certain things at certain times to get any result. I need regularity like 3 meals a day usually whole foods home cooked. I add some protein supplements because i need to stay high in protein but I burn so slow that getting it the natural way would require too much calories. Its actually quite funny to see small Thai girls eat the same as me and stay lean. When I workout .. i workout hard and I carry enough muscle.. still bit of a thyroid problem means I have to watch it or turn fat again.

In movies and on pictures people have perfect bodies, but once you know that they only have that perfect body under the right light (and sure they don't look bad normally but they look better under the right light) and that bodybuilders or gym models first diet for a shoot drop all water from their body and stay just like that for a short while you learn to put things in perspective. Unfortunately many people don't realize that and chase something impossible. You also have to play around with your limitations some will build muscle easy.. others stay lean easy .. and a real small group can do both easy.

You sound like my uncle. He is a tradesman so works hard all day, then has to gym 4 times a week and surf on the weekends. Just so he doesn't turn fat. That I think is fair enough. I wouldn't call that obsessive, it is just how his body is made up.

3 times a day I also wouldn't call obsessive. It isn't your 5 or 6 meals plus supplementation. My old boss is a top bloke, one of my closest friends, but he is on 5 or 6 meals and a cocktail of pills. I definitely called him obsessed.

When I was younger I used to train hard (18-20) - both team sport and gym, but ended up with stress fractures. After that life got more interesting so sport took a back step. I think it is important, and does make you feel better. Since starting to train slowly a bit after being sick I have a lot more energy and have put back on 7kg (I am the opposite of you, hard to put on). I am 27 now so apart from doing it out of necessity with the dogs, I do want to make activity a habit for my kids when they grow up.

Agree with the light. Also these actors are on all the drugs in the world for a few months before the movie. Indeed near impossible.

Was at my fittest and leanest for many years when playing football (soccer) with perhaps one pint of shandy after training twice a week. Then played on a Saturday and Sunday with often a midweek floodlit match, so took it seriously.

I think if you are talking about just "social sport" then perhaps true, but above that level then some serious training is undertaken.

I'm looking at the box as I type.

It says "Just For Men Control GX SHAMPOO."

Don't know what you're on about and I haven't just washed my hair in car oil I assure you.

P.S. And you misspelt "miss-spelt" wrongly.

OR is it misspelled?

So wrong ! so you think that people look better with their ugly grey hair ?

This is the usual stupid idea that people not able to think on their own keep repeating...

YES ! it's obvious that 70 years old guys dye their hair ? And so ? They look better than most younger guys anyway !

Not like a clown, but like most massage girls.
